Report: Texas, Texas A&M heading to Big Ten

4

This report from KCTV has a lot of information in it. How much of it is true, well, who really knows? Here's what we got: - Texas and Texas A&M to the Big Ten - Oklahoma petitioning to join the SEC - Oklahoma State to the Pac-10 - SEC offering invitations to Texas A&M and Virginia Tech The bottom line is that all hell is breaking loose in college football right now. At least Wisconsin is safe... or so we think.

Big 10 Is Still Targeting Texas

7

So, much for there not being any interest in Texas to the Big 10. Now there is an email stating that Texas is interested in joining the Big 10. Ohio State University President E. Gordon Gee sent an e-mail to Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany on April 20 saying that he had spoken with Texas President William Powers. "I did speak with Bill Powers at Texas, who would welcome a call to say they have a 'Tech' problem," Gee wrote in an e-mail that was among several obtained by The Dispatch through a public-records request for documents and correspondence related to Big Ten expansion proposals.

Six Big 12 teams headed to the Pac-10?

15
Orangebloods.com, the Texas rivals site, is reporting this afternoon through anonymous sources that six Big 12 teams have been invited to join the Pac-10 -- Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Colorado. AARRRgghghAAAggghh... the bombs are falling! Either that, or I'm going to start quoting "anonymous sources" about Tom Osborne flying in a plane to a secret meeting with Jim Delany just to see how many other sites pick up on the story and run with it. Here's the thing - Chip Brown is reporting it, which is surprising because Brown isn't some fly by night guy. OTOH, it's hard to believe, partially because the implication is that Missouri would get invited to the Big 10 and we wouldn't (like someone would invite Missouri without thinking of us first?), and that Texas A&M would split up with Texas. The biggest reason to believe it's bullshit - there's too much information in here for one guy to know.

And this is why no one is talking about the imminent demise of the Big 12

Big 12 will be holding their Spring meetings this week and ::gasp:: are putting the Big 10 expansion discussion at the top of the agenda! Even going as far as asking league members where they stand on the expansion and even investigating ways to entice members to stay. This is all unnecessary crazy talk!

What are the Big 12 and PAC 10 talking about?

+

Since scenarios are the theme of the month, here's a scenario involving what might happen were the Big 12 and Pac 10 to form an alliance that involved a conference championship.
