National Championship Game Day Thread

A little under two hours away - Nebraska meets Stanford for a national championship in women's volleyball.

That's two years in a row now, and I remember the disappointment when watching us against Washington last year. The Huskers really got their rears handed to them by a Washington team that was on a roll.

Memory of that game has me anxious. Nebraska must win a national title while Sarah Pavan is playing for us, otherwise it's a sign that things must be off-kilter in the universe.

Well... here we go.
seven of the last 12 NCAA titles between these two teams.

Stanford is going for it's seventh title.
Nebraska for our third.

Good start
We haven't started slow - which is a good thing.

Nebraska up 9-6.

24 all
Nebraska's hitting percentage has steadily climbed throughout this match.

Stanford takes game one
30-27.

Given that we were down 0-2 to Minnesota, and 0-1 to UCLA before coming back to win those games, perhaps this is a good sign.

Nebraska rolling
in game two, 7-3.

Need to keep this momentum going..

7-1 run
by Stanford. Nebraska has to get their poop together and get momentum back on their side.

They look timid during this run - like they're more worried about making a mistake than doing something with the ball

Nebraska takes two
It is going to be interesting to see what happens next - Nebraska lately has taken a while to get rolling, we pointed out earlier that they'd fallen behind in the last few matches - if Nebraska can really start rolling in game three.

A new NCAA Single match record - 17,209 attendance.

Stanford up 25-21
We're looking somewhat predictable on offense right now, and Stanford is getting a lot to go their way.

I would hate for us to go down 2-1.

game point Nebraska!!!
29-28.

Pavan smash.....

the hitting percentage in the third game was nearly identical for both teams. TV keeps making a big deal out of Stanford's Barboza, but the rest of Stanford's team is playing better.

Both of these teams have plenty of depth, so we're not going to wear down Stanford like we did UCLA.

Hitting percentage
on that last game was .349 for Nebraska, .302 for Stanford. At the 28-28 tie, both teams were hitting .333.

One more game and we win a national title!

Game Four
Started out well.

If this goes to a game five, it could kill me. The 15 point games are so nasty, any errors whatsoever and the game is over.

my in-laws are at this game. If it goes to game five, there will probably be a stoppage as my mother-in-law has a heart attack in the stands.

The Huskers need to win this game to save her life !
