- Rankings above are from Baseball America. I think everyone else that does this just takes the highest ranking available from any poll and uses that without explanation. I don't have any problems with Rivals, Collegiate Baseball, or the National College Baseball Writers Association (NCBW). I'm just trying to be consistent, although I keep wondering, what the hell is with the NCBW people ranking us at #30?
- If you didn't see it, Doug Kroll over at Rivals does a really nice piece on this year's team with an interview with head coach Mike Anderson.
- For an always excellent full write-up on what's happening with Texas Longhorn baseball and for yesterday's massacree by Nebraska, check out Joanna's Longhorn baseball page.

NIT Tourney: Nebraska Cornhuskers vs. Charlotte 49ers
Opponent: Charlotte 49ers 20-6 (6-5)
Date: March 19, 2008 | 3 p.m.
Listen:Huskers Sports Network
TV: ESPN Classic
Arena: Bob Devaney Sports Center (13,595)
- Offense: Charlotte averaged 70.2 ppg - Huskers 66.8
- Defense: Charlotte allowed 67.4 ppg - Huskers 60.3
That gives Nebraska a slight edge, but all the stats can't tell you about the NIT tourney. The NIT is all about emotion - does a team feel slighted if they felt they deserved a ticket to the Big Dance? If they did, will they play like a bunch of spoiled kids? Or play with a chip on their shoulder?
Nebraska is a team still in the building process. The NIT isn't the top, but it is a chance for the Huskers to continue playing basketball, keep Aleks Maric around for as long as possible, and maybe a chance to prove they've come quite a ways since the beginning of the season.
The game against Charlotte will pit their outside shooting against our inside penetration and Aleks Maric. It should be fun to watch (and I hope I get to watch it, as I'm currently doing upgrades at a site).
We should win this game. Hey, maybe we should win the NIT. It'd be a nice send-off for Maric. Why not?

Husker Librarian's Preview:
Regular Season Meetings:
- Jan. 30: Nebraska 66, @Missouri 62;
- Feb. 13: Missouri 86, @Nebraska 78 (OT)
Nebraska's played extremely well since losing to Mizzou in February. Missouri has been horribly inconsistent down the stretch, since losing leading scorer Stephon Hannah following the barfight just before the first NU-MU game in January. In Lincoln, Nebraska went scoreless at the end of the first half, and missed several key free throws in the second half. These teams are fairly well-matched, so it should be a tight game. Both teams really need a win to feel safe about an NIT berth, though the loser may still be safe from CBI-land. The winner gets the worst prize ever -- a second-round matchup with KU.
- Prediction: Nebraska, 66-65. - Winner plays: #2 Kansas, 6:00 PM Friday, ESPN+
- If we win we get to play Kansas. Instead of looking at that with a negative perspective - look at it this way - it's a great measuring stick to see where this Nebraska team is from the beginning of the Big 12 to the end. Did we grow? Are we better? A coach couldn't ask for a better setup - but first we have to get there.

- Preview of the game from my point of view - Texas hasn't lost at home. Nebraska has never beaten Texas in Austin. A good picture might help, they always help me (just so there ain't no confusion, the big ugly guy with the shield represents Texas).

Nebraska vs Colorado Game Day Thread

Opponent: Colorado 5-6 (3-4 Big 12)
Date: Friday, November 23, 2007, 11:00 AM
Listen:Huskers Sports Network
TV: ABC
Stadium: Folsom Field, Boulder, CO (51,000)
Please use this thread to discuss the Nebraska - Colorado game and any other games you might be watching today.
- Contrary to some people's opinions, Nebraska needs to win this game. I know that some of you want it to be a loss to ensure Callahan's firing, but that's WRONG THINKING.
- It's wrong thinking because we can still get to a bowl game which means three more weeks of practice for younger players.
- It's wrong thinking because you shouldn't enjoy losing so much.
- It's wrong because we have so many good players and I don't want it to end on a loss for them.
- It's wrong because however we finish this season carries into the next one.
- It's wrong because, well, dammit, because I say it's wrong.

Please use this thread to discuss the Nebraska - Kansas State game and any other games you might be watching today.
- Normally I'd write something about keys to the game, but that seems rather pointless. It only matters if this team decides they want to salvage their season. They haven't show us much the last few weeks, I don't have much hope for today. (Wow. That's pretty negative, isn't it?)
- So much angst on pre-game shows about whether or not fans will boo the Seniors. I guess there isn't much else to talk about - it's not like you can pour over statistics with any meaning. (More negativity?)
- I hope Bo Ruud gets into this game. I don't mean just play, but GET INTO IT. You KNOW that you're going to hear RRUUUUUUUD! from the crowd. You know it. (That's better. Maybe just one more positivity.)
- Nebraska needs to start fast. Joe Ganz to Mo Purify. If Purify could whip up on the best cover corner in the Big 12 for over 150 yards, what can he do against K-State. The offense can score against KSU. (Whoooeeee!)
