2012 National Title Game: Alabama vs LSU - The Open Thread
We've arrived at the final destination for the 2011 football season, although it's a destination most of us have little or no desire to see - it's pretty certain there will be plenty who won't even get off the train to take a look at the place.
The LSU Tigers take on the Alabama Crimson Tide for the 2011 National Title. I know you're as thrilled as I am. I realize there are plenty of you who won't be watching this game as some sort of protest - you can still stop by and say hello and talk about whatever else you want.
If you're wondering who to root for, Spencer Hall has all the information you need to know. As for me, I'll be rooting for LSU, because the thought of Nick Saban and Alabama winning another national title sickens me more than if it were Les Miles.
Plus, Loooosiiana > Alabama in terms of a place I might think about living some day.
The thrilling is just oozing out of me, isn't it....?
The Letch Bowl: Arkansas State vs Northern Illinois Open Thread
Here it comes, walking down the street, with the prettiest love song you'll ever meet!
Hey Hey It's the Letch Bowl, with plenty of letchin' around!
It's the second to last bowl game of the season, last if you're not watching the national title rematch between that one SEC team and the other SEC team.
Join us because we're getting near the end!
2012 Cotton Bowl: Arkansas vs Kansas State Open Thread
It's the 2012 Cotton Bowl, a grand match up between Kansas State and Arkansas, at this point two nameless, faceless teams that make up the third to last college football game before the long darkness of offseason.
It's on FOX at 7:00 pm, which means even more crowd shots than ESPN has given us over the past 83 bowl games, which is rather amazing when you think about it. Gus Johnson is announcing, so even if the game has a 30-point margin ether way, you're still gonna feel like it's the most exciting thing happenin' on Friday night.
Admit it, you sunabitches, you missed all those Wildcat fans this season, didn't you? It's okay - hey, they were always fun to play with, all you had to do was deny they were ever good at anything, and BAM! They were in a tizzy! By comparison, Northwestern fans just aren't the same (although... Indiana could do well in this area - IF they ever have a football team worth mentioning).
I'll be rooting for Kansas State tonight, just like old times! Don't forget your Power Towel!
Huskers Lose to Cocks - The "Fire Everybody" Post Game Thread
The 2011 season comes to an end on a bad note. It wasn't so much that Nebraska lost, it's in the way they did it - by cutting themselves with a razor blade and slowly bleeding themselves to death in the second half.
It wasn't so much that Nebraska lost to a top-ten South Carolina team from the best conference in college football - it's that they did it in horrifying fashion. A complete lack of consistency, maturity, and discipline.
Man, it's going to be a long offseason.
BTW, let's try to keep it civil. I am not in a good mood.
Capital One Bowl: Second Half Thread
Three big plays by SC and they lead at the half 16-13.
- PAT blocked and returned for two points
- Ameer Abdullah fumble deep in SC territory taking points off the board for Nebraska
- Big Hail Mary play for SC at the end of the first half.
The second half is where we don't make mistakes and take advantage of our opportunities!

New Year's Eve Bowl Game Preview And Open Thread: The End Cometh!
It's a full day of bowl games, along with Husker basketball versus Michigan State at 2:00 pm. Doc Sadler really needs a good showing today, but I don't have much faith that he's going to get it.
We'll use this as an open thread for the early games, then have a Husker basketball and open thread for the rest of the games up at 2:00 pm.

Insight Bowl: Old Rival Oklahoma vs New Rival Iowa
Oh, I should have created game threads for the earlier bowls, but better late than never, right?
Besides, I figure this is the one most Husker fans are interested in because it features our future and our past facing off against each other.
New rival Iowa vs old rival Oklahoma - I have to wonder - who are you rooting for?
I don't expect it to be much of a game, especially since Iowa is without Marcus Coker, but at the same time, you have to wonder how enthused Oklahoma is to have fallen to the Insight Bowl.
As for my rooting - for me Oklahoma ceased to be our rival at the formation of the Big 12. We didn't play yearly, and Oklahoma made Texas their rival of choice. The old Big Eight gave us some great games, but those days were gone.
Still.... rooting for Iowa just because they're in the Big Ten? I don't think I can do that. I haven't hidden my hate for Iowa, but I do hope they play well in this game if for no other reason than it's a Friday night and like usual, I have nothing better to do.
