Nebraska tackle Jared Crick has been named the FWAA/Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week for games of the weekend of Oct. 31.

Crick
Crick, a 6-6, 285-pound sophomore from Cozad, Neb., made 13 total tackles (10 unassisted) including five sacks and two others for loss in Nebraska's 20-10 victory at Baylor. Crick also broke up a pass and recovered a fumble.

His five sacks in a game set a Nebraska school record and are the most in a single game by any player in the nation this season. He is the second Nebraska tackle to be named Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the week after Ndamukong Suh earlier this season.

"After suffering my fourth concussion in the past 18 months, I have decided to step away from playing the game of football. After meeting with my family, the athletic trainers, Dr. Albers, and the coaching staff, we determined that I would risk complications later in life if I were to continue playing football. Football has been an integral part of my life since my earliest years, and has helped propel me to great heights. Playing football at the University of Nebraska has been one of my greatest accomplishments, and I will always be proud to say I am a Cornhusker. Coach Pelini has given me the opportunity to continue my dedication to Nebraska football in a different role, acting as a coach and a mentor on the team. I am thankful for this new position, as I will be able to continue to be around the game I love most, and build on the strong relationships I have developed with my teammates.

This is a short, fun article that I found apropos to our Heisman situation here. There's a decent chance we're going to end up feeling like Suh got jobbed - the odds are against him simply because no lineman has ever won. And we all know the best player often doesn't win, either. Yeah, this can also apply to Tommie- er, Eddie George's Heisman. Bottom line, we should thank our lucky stars that we get to watch Ndamukong Suh play every week.

Curtis will be in Lincoln for the game this weekend. It should be a great atmosphere for him. I heard an interview with Carter on the Huskers Illustrated radio show, and I was very impressed with his attitude. He sounded intelligent and he seems to be taking it nice and easy with the recruiting process. He's described as wide open, but he was impressed with Nebraska, and he was willing to go out of state. Offers from LSU, Alabama, TCU, Mississippi St., many others. He's a burner, and he's a small guy (5'10" 160), but can he learn to run routes at an elite level and catch what comes his way? Nebraska is in need of a complete receiver. What do you guys know about Carter?

Ask A Husker - Double-T Nation

Last week we started creating more dialogue with the SB Nation site Rock M Nation by posting an open question and answer forum on their site. They did the same here.

This is an expansion of the regular blogger Q&A session that each site tends to do each week. Instead of the Q&A session being restricted to the main site authors, it allows the fans of each team to get more involved with the opposing fan base by trading their own questions and answers.

It takes advantage of one of the best features of our platform - the ability to share the same account between any SB Nation site. You can join the Texas Tech Red Raider site (at no cost, I might add) with the same account you use here, so why not?

To join Double T Nation, all you need to do is wander over there and click the "Join" button. Pretty darned easy.

The only thing I ask... demand...is that you show them the respect they deserve as fans, the same respect you expect.
