One of the top cornerbacks in the Southwest, Cole Luke, the 6-0, 170-pound four-star prospect made an unofficial visit to Notre Dame this week and then revealed a list of the five schools currently standing out for him ($) -- Notre Dame, Texas, Michigan, Nebraska, and Cal.
In Nebraska, like pretty much every other school, there are always detractors from the head coach. Even when Osborne was coaching, people would say things like, "He's never going to win a championship. We need a guy who can get us to the next level. Blah. Blah. Blah." For Pelini, not only does he have to deal with these exceedingly unrealistic expectations, he also lives in the shadow of what many Nebraska fans considers the second coming of Christ -- Tom Osborne.
Demorea Stringfellow is one of the better receiver recruits in California, out of Moreno Valley Rancho Verde High School. Stringfellow is a receiver prospect who hails from the same high school as current Florida Gator defensive end and former five star prospect, Ronald Powell, as well as current USC tight end Junior Pomee. Stringfellow has established himself among the best wide receivers in California in 2011, as he collected 981 yards and 15 touchdowns receiving on just 45 receptions. So far this offseason, he has been able to garner close to 15 scholarships from programs such as Arizona, Arizona State, Florida, Indiana, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State and UCLA.
"Nebraska fans are largely stuck in a state of permanent nostalgia for the days when Tom Osborne roamed the sideline, so I thought it was appropriate to incorporate several classic '90s element in the design," said Nike head designer Christopher Polyblend. "It was a bit tricky from a logistical standpoint -- we had to get permission from several corporations before we could go ahead: Vuarnet, Zubaz, Doc Martens, HyperColor and, of course, Mr. Adam Duritz -- but I think the final effect was worth it."
The Huskers added a Texas prospect to the 2013 recruiting class with the commitment of College Station (TX) A&M Consolidated defensive tackle Christian Lacouture on Saturday afternoon
Ranked as a three-star prospect by Rivals and 247Sports, Scout has Lacouture as a four-star recruit. He was committed to Texas A&M for more than a year, but opened up his recruitment again in March. Baylor, LSU, Michigan, Missouri, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, and Utah all offered the high school defensive end.
Michael Hutchings is a top linebacker recruit out of Concord (Calif.) De La Salle High School. Hutchings stands 6'2" and 210 pounds, and is a consensus four-star recruit. He claims offers from: USC, UCLA, California, Arizona, Arizona State, Boise State, Colorado, Miami, Michigan, Mississippi, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, Oregon State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Utah, Washington and Washington State
Ah, sweet enjoyable memory. I feel sorry for those of you Nebraskans who were not yet alive and/or cognizant at the time.
Or maybe I don't. Perhaps it's best remembered as legend, as myth. In any case go read this because it contains references to 1995 Nebraska, the greatest team of all teams in any sport anywhere.
"I love it here," Pelini said. "I've said this before: This is not a steppingstone job. This is a destination. I enjoy what I'm doing here, I love who I'm working with, I love who I'm working for. I'm not looking for another job. I'm committed to winning a championship here. I'm passionate about winning a championship here."
Tre'vell Dixon Becomes 1st Husker Commitment for 2013 Recruiting Class
Dixon is an Athlete from Baldwin, LA. I'll put more up on him and any other class of 2013 recruits who commit after signing day.
(Note: This may be Deion Jones situation as Dixon is a Louisiana player without an LSU offer. If he has a big senior season, and an LSU offer ensues, I'd say chances would be good that he makes the switch. This is my very definition of the "Soft" commitment.)
The other half is about a frustrated, often angry and irrational character who seems to swing and miss no matter how hard she follows the recipe. The Nebraska fan base plays the perpetually understanding husband. The viewer, after watching this unfold, really wishes they could have just kept the South Carolina part, and not watched so much of the Nebraska bit.
