Vote for Sexy Rexy!

Uplifting Athletes has four nominees, including one Rex Burkhead, up for the Rare Disease Champion Award which is decided by a public vote.

Rex is nominated for the award based on his community outreach, including his relationship with 6 year old Jack Hoffman who had a rare brain tumor and after an unsuccessful brain surgery said his only dream was to meet his hero, Rex. Rest of the story, along with all the other young men's, is in on the website.

Patrick Witt accused of sexual assult.

Looks like the reason why former Nebraska quarterback Patrick Witt decided to play in the Harvard/Yale game was because of a possible sexual assault allegation. After the Rhodes scholarship board found out about it, they pulled his candidacy. It is an interesting end to say the least. I get the feeling it may have been a cover up to protect Witt, to avoid embarrassment?

Capital One Bowl

Congratulations go out to the Cornhuskers for a successful season culminating in participation in the Capital One Bowl.

However, Coach Pelini left a big black eye on the Cornhusker Nation.

Instead of learning how to lose gracefully, he had to place his foot directly in his mouth, by making the following statement:

"I'll say it straight out - our football team, even after the game felt we were a better football team than them,"

This statement shows a lack of class that I thought was a part of the Great Nebraska program over the years.

Maybe, from now on the coach will let the team's play speak for itself and learn to bite his tongue when an arrogant thought enters his head....

Oversigning Update: To The Cheaters Belong The Bowls!

Oversigning is a clear-cut competitive advantage that drastically tips the playing field in favor of the, for lack of a better word, Cheater. (I realize that there are glaring loopholes in this rule, so cheating is not the legally correct word.)

The results of oversigning on competitive balance are clearly shown by analyzing the results of this year’s bowl games. Teams offering more scholarships than their opponents went 15-4 in this year’s bowls. Almost all of these bowl winners are oversigning cheaters.

Husker Grapplers Make History

3491646357_64451c0c14_z_medium

For the first time in school history and in front of a crowd of over 1,400 fans, the Nebraska Cornhuskers achieved a perfect 10-0 record to start their season. With their first B1G conference win, they are also one step away from tying the longest winning streak in school history, but the top ranked Iowa Hawkeyes are the team to beat as they visit Lincoln next Friday.

Senior Tucker Lane (HWT) was the first win of the night as he joined the 100 win club. He won by decision (5-1). An emotional win in more than one way, Lane dedicated it as a birthday gift to his father (full story here). After Lane's match, the Huskers fell behind 7-3, but came back to finish with a final match score of 18-16. One of those victories came from Jake Sueflohn (141), a freshman who beat his fifth ranked opponent tonight with a 10-2 major decision. Nebraska's young talent combined with their seasoned starters allowed this historic evening to occur(Huskers.com full story).

The Huskers now must prepare for top ranked Iowa next Friday... the 13th (Pretty epic to say the least). With such young talent, it will be interesting to see how the 'Skers match up against the wrestling dynasty at Iowa.

GBR!

General Info:

Tonight in the Coliseum at 7pm, the 12th ranked Cornhuskers (9-0) dual the 6th ranked Buckeyes (7-0, 1-0) from Ohio State. The big story tonight is that the Huskers are looking to go 10-0 for the first time in school history, and would be one win away from tying the longest win streak in school history. That kind of feat, specifically in the dominant B1G conference, will be no easy feat. This is the Huskers' first B1G duel and the 2nd B1G duel for the Buckeyes. Matches will be broadcast on BTN.com (subscription needed) or you can follow live stats with www.TrackWrestling.com. Admission is $10 and if you come early, you can see some high school talent at 5pm. Husker wrestling has six top 25 ranked wrestlers at their weight division, with 5 of them in the top 10. Bo Must Go vol. 2

Just came back to check in and see what was being said around here and come to find out that the previous post was closed for comments. The last guy to post speculated that I was a closet Longhorn fan, yeah you clearly figured me out.

Idiot.

I'm relieved that this season is over. It's been a wicked roller coaster ride. Anyways I'd like to check back in here after a while and see what you people have to say.

FOR THE RECORD I'm not for firing Bo Pelini right now, I just don't think things are going to work out here! Go Big Red

Poll
How long of a leash should Bo Pelini be given if you were able to be the athletic director?

Predictions:'Huskers vs. Gamecocks---Score

I think Carolina will win 31-14. Look for the team speed to be too much for Bo's team. Bo don't know these 'Cocks !!! Should be close in the first half but not sure if it will be closeat the end. I do not know how good the Nebraska passing game,if any will be able to clickon the Gamecock's seconary. Probably the real and most significant issue is whether Carolina has been able to recreate the Husker's option game and get the skills to stop it. Certainly there is more than enough speed.

SUH in the Taiwanese news

Came across this on SI's PM Hot Clicks yesterday. Animated version of how they perceive Suh's most recent & previous actions on the field.

Make you wonder if Choi's parents (and other foreign players' parents) perceive football to resemble anything like this.

SUH on Taiwan TV

I have to admit that his recent stomping incident seemed to change a lot of people's views about Suh, especially his ludicrous comments after the game.
