I was talking..

to some guys at work and we were remember back when....these two teams would meet, at the start of the season one of them would be expected to be good (top 10 ranked) and the other? well most sports writers would be saying things like " well look for them to be improved and if they get some breaks who knows." By the time the game rolled around one would be undefeated and highly ranked, the other would be struggling and be around .500. My how things have changed.

Well everything I have on today is red except for my socks but they still say Huskers on them. Wow who ever thought beating KU would be an upset.

the shut out. that was way too easy

by taflorom on Nov 3, 2007 12:01 PM CDT reply actions

TD Kansas

should we take it that we're not going to blitz like we did last week against Texas?

Seems to me that Cosgrove runs a defense and that's it. No changes, nothing different.

Go Big Red!

What I hate the most

is that we have talent and this will be the second time in 4 years that BC and crew have wasted it.

by taflorom on Nov 3, 2007 12:04 PM CDT reply actions

Wow

Lucky breaks Rogers record with a long long TD

by taflorom on Nov 3, 2007 12:07 PM CDT reply actions

WOW

Kansas apparently forgets Lucky out of the backfield on 3rd and 2!

How can KU be that stupid!

well

it was a pick play. oh well. got away with that.

C'mon T

14 points on 2 possessions!
Hope this ain't another Texas game?
GBR!

It seemed like a good idea at the time.

by pheidole on Nov 3, 2007 12:11 PM CDT reply actions

defense

we don't get after the ball, and Cosgrove really hasn't a clue as how to defend the option.

obviously we're going to have to keep scoring throughout the whole game.

Does anyone know why Jim Rose isn't announcing today?

I didn't know

that he wasn't.

that's interesting.

Go Big Red!

by Jon Johnston on Nov 3, 2007 12:45 PM CDT up reply actions

Nice

defense. Good god can it get any worse? Wonder if TO needs anymore time to evaluate. This is bad when you cant stop KU

by taflorom on Nov 3, 2007 12:25 PM CDT reply actions

Bad when you can't stop KU?

KU is unstoppable this year on offense!

Hey, this might be the only chance any of us KU fans get to talk trash during a KU-NU football game.  You can't blame me for popping in.

While I do not love the Huskers, I shared in your joy when Pederson was given his walking papers.  I really disliked that guy.

by James Quinn on Nov 3, 2007 12:31 PM CDT up reply actions

we

should at least be competitive.

our defense lacks any emotion. not much effort. really hard to watch.

If by some bizarre twist of you see Cosgrove back at Nebraska next season, I personally will light the torches and lead the riot.

Go Big Red!

by Jon Johnston on Nov 3, 2007 12:39 PM CDT up reply actions

I will

light them if any of these yahoos are back next year.

by taflorom on Nov 3, 2007 12:49 PM CDT up reply actions

and KU

scores again.

ouch.

run the ball, score some points, keep their offense off the field.

let's see Castille.....

Go Big Red!

does

anyone know - is Sam Keller on the side line?

Go Big Red!

by Jon Johnston on Nov 3, 2007 12:49 PM CDT reply actions

Nice

pass to Purify.

Get a stop from the defense, and we can get back in this thing.

Go Big Red!

by Jon Johnston on Nov 3, 2007 12:52 PM CDT reply actions

35 points
for KU and there is 8:30 left in the 2nd quarter.

holy cow.

Go Big Red!

by Jon Johnston on Nov 3, 2007 12:58 PM CDT reply actions

Umm...Billy???

Your defense is getting shredded...  Your quarterback is making his first career start and hasn't seen much playing time since high schoo.  How about trying to run the ball a little (or at least pretend to..)???

by Husker Mike on Nov 3, 2007 1:04 PM CDT reply actions

KU has

apparently decided to slow the game down on the ground.

I'm sure that Billy would respond by saying we had to throw all the time to get back in the game.

Go Big Red!

by Jon Johnston on Nov 3, 2007 1:10 PM CDT up reply actions

KU 42 points in the first half!

KU has a great offense this year.  Nebraska is not the first team the Jayhawks have moved the ball at will against.  I did not expect a score like this, but this is not just a factor of the Husker defense.

What is just amazing, I honestly think KU has about a 1 in 15 shot at playing in the national championship game this year.  Magical year in Lawrence.

by James Quinn on Nov 3, 2007 1:18 PM CDT reply actions

offense

you guys do have a good offense, but be honest. Our defense is barely making an effort to be on the field.

Seriously, look at this game. We have no fire. we have no life on defense.

Go Big Red!

by Jon Johnston on Nov 3, 2007 1:19 PM CDT up reply actions

My lord. 48 points.

Really, that should never happen.

New coach on Monday?  Callahan should start setting cardboard boxes aside this week.

by James Quinn on Nov 3, 2007 1:24 PM CDT up reply actions

NO

Bill Callahan can sit through the rest of this season along with the rest of us.

He can allow us to enjoy the next three weeks of his existence with us. :)

Go Big Red!

by Jon Johnston on Nov 3, 2007 1:32 PM CDT up reply actions

Shanked Extra Point...

...means that Nebraska's record for worst half might stay intact.  (49 points in the 2nd half against Texas Tech...48 and counting vs. Kansas)

by Husker Mike on Nov 3, 2007 1:22 PM CDT up reply actions

that's a record

for KU, isn't it? Most points ever scored in the first half against Nebraska?

oh, he missed the extra point! so much for that.

Go Big Red!

by Jon Johnston on Nov 3, 2007 1:23 PM CDT reply actions

thats

the record for anyone against NU in the first half. and its to KU for gods sake

by taflorom on Nov 3, 2007 1:24 PM CDT up reply actions

it's their
year.

its okay. we'll live through it. and in the end, learn some humility.

Go Big Red!

by Jon Johnston on Nov 3, 2007 1:34 PM CDT up reply actions

What!?!?!?

learn humility? Wow that is something. What are you talking about?

by taflorom on Nov 3, 2007 1:36 PM CDT up reply actions

maybe some empathy

too.

thought that'd get a rise out of ya.

maybe we won't be so quick to laugh at others when we're crushing them into the ground like we will be when we get good again.

:)

Go Big Red!

by Jon Johnston on Nov 3, 2007 1:45 PM CDT up reply actions

I wish...

I lived in Lincoln. I would rent two Ryder trucks and park one in front of BCs house and the other in front of Cozs. Then leave notes that said " Have a nice life, the trucks are on us." Good-Bye, Tom.

What a joke. 48 points to KU in the first half.

by taflorom on Nov 3, 2007 1:35 PM CDT reply actions

48-24 half.

There are no words to describe how absolutely bad the D is.  I cannot identify with this team.  PLEASE FIRE COZ at half.  I'd say I can't take it anymore, but I'm past that phase; I don't know what to call the phase I'm in now....

--'za blang thang-- --"don't TAZE me, bro"--

by Ze Robertinho on Nov 3, 2007 1:42 PM CDT reply actions

Send the house...

...it's the only thing that this defense has been able to succeed at since the Nevada game.  Blitz 11.  We might get a few sacks and stops.  And if they score...well, they were going to score anyway.

by Husker Mike on Nov 3, 2007 1:44 PM CDT up reply actions

at least

every one of his defensive players can understand "blitz".

You get the idea that the D doesn't really know what they're supposed to be doing, and that Kevin Cosgrove isn't bothering to make an effort anymore.

Go Big Red!

by Jon Johnston on Nov 3, 2007 1:53 PM CDT up reply actions

At the half....

48-24.

Oh, hell. Pretty tough to watch, although you have to admit that Joe Ganz has looked pretty decent in his first start.

That's at least some good news. We're seeing a lot of Lucky.... haven't seen a lot of Helu and/or Castille, but then Billy C can't involve them in the offense if all he's going to do is throw the ball.

Can't use the excuse that he was throwing all the time because we were so far behind when he kicks at field goal at the end of the half. Well... I guess he can, but not with much credbility.

Go Big Red!

by Jon Johnston on Nov 3, 2007 1:43 PM CDT reply actions

He lost his credibility...

...many weeks ago, about the time he started talking about the "excellent job" he was doing at Nebraska.

by Husker Mike on Nov 3, 2007 1:45 PM CDT up reply actions

Joe

has thrown for 266 in the first half, not bad

by taflorom on Nov 3, 2007 1:58 PM CDT reply actions

Holy Moly

what a catch. The TE should have had it the play before but we would not have seen that great catch if he had.

WOW WOW WOW

by taflorom on Nov 3, 2007 2:06 PM CDT reply actions

beautiful

catch by Purify. Nice throw by Ganz.

that was a great highlight.

defense?

Go Big Red!

by Jon Johnston on Nov 3, 2007 2:07 PM CDT reply actions

DEFENSE?

what is that? Do you play that in a football game?

by taflorom on Nov 3, 2007 2:08 PM CDT up reply actions

At this point

Joe Ganz has 339 yards passing.

Maybe if he keeps this up he gets the single game passing record?

Go Big Red!

by Jon Johnston on Nov 3, 2007 2:10 PM CDT reply actions

doubtful

since KU is going to run the ball a lot, shorten the game, and get out with a win.

They fear us coming back with the passing game. You know they do.

Go Big Red!

by Jon Johnston on Nov 3, 2007 2:13 PM CDT up reply actions

hey

this Joe Ganz dude is playing well.

he's made good decisions, moving the ball around.

good stuff.

345 yards at 7:37 left in the third.

Go Big Red!

by Jon Johnston on Nov 3, 2007 2:23 PM CDT reply actions

Not a good pass...

...overthrown into double coverage, and picked off...

But on the positive sign, Carl Nicks had the best tackle of the day.  Maybe he could finish the season as defensive coordinator.

by Husker Mike on Nov 3, 2007 2:24 PM CDT up reply actions

so much for that.

Carl Nicks should be playing defense.

at least he threw down the interceptor with authority.

Go Big Red!

by Jon Johnston on Nov 3, 2007 2:25 PM CDT reply actions

I

really think that we should come up with nicknames for Bill Callahan and Kevin Cosgrove.....

Nicknames to the point that they won't ever escape them.

Go Big Red!

by Jon Johnston on Nov 3, 2007 2:27 PM CDT reply actions

sorry

about that. I am just way to pissed off right now. This is totally embarassing and I hate those two right now. Them and Pederson.

by taflorom on Nov 3, 2007 2:29 PM CDT up reply actions

weird

got an error there on posting.

it's okay... it's understandable. if Mangino want to , he could probably put up 90 today.

being pissed isn't going to change anything.

Go Big Red!

by Jon Johnston on Nov 3, 2007 2:35 PM CDT up reply actions

no

that's profane. small children can't say it without getting in trouble.

and i want it to be something that my son call yell at Cosgrove next year if he's a coach for the Vikings.

plus, at some point that's every coach's nick name

is now one point away from scoring the most points ever on Nebraska.

Previous was Texas Tech, we all remember that game, 70-10, Callahan's first year.

We are

now witnessing the death throes of the Callasham regime.

They couldn't get rid of this guy fast enough for me.

76points

to KU. What a joke. Bill and Kevin should be fired tomorrow. TO should just come out, give a press conference and say "I made a mistake by saying I would not fire any coaches before the end of the season. After yesterdays performance Bill and Kevin have no place in Husker athletics and will no longer be coaching Husker football." No one would hold it against him. This is a very very unfunny joke.

by taflorom on Nov 3, 2007 2:59 PM CDT reply actions

No

I keep saying NO. I'll explain  why in my post-game reaction article.

Go Big Red!

by Jon Johnston on Nov 3, 2007 3:05 PM CDT up reply actions

Here is

Tom Osbornes email address. I think everyone should email him and ask him to fire these jackasses tomorrow morning. Quit waiting until the end of the season. How many will KSU and CU put up on us? They wont call off the dogs like Mangino did. Good thing he has a little class or he could have hung 100 on us.

by taflorom on Nov 3, 2007 3:25 PM CDT reply actions
