Mike Cavanaugh did the yeoman’s work on Matt Sichterman, and got his verbal before the season ever started and other schools found out what Nebraska had. Today, it paid off as Sichterman has sent his letter of intent into North Stadium and is officially a Nebraska Cornhusker.

Welcome to the family @mattsichterman.#GBR pic.twitter.com/nCSGVhXCkI
Sichterman, who attends Kings High School in Kings Mills, Ohio, is the 436th best player in the 2017 recruiting cycle according to the 247Sports national composite. He is the 47th-best offensive tackle in this cycle, and the 19th best player in the state of Ohio this cycle as well.
Besides Nebraska, Sichterman had offers from Boston College, Michigan State, Kentucky and Maryland among other Power 5 and FBS offers.
Expectation: Like Brenden Jaimes, the youth of the offensive line depth chart affords the ability for Nebraska to redshirt Sichterman. It’s not a slight to either player, but the fanbase is ready to see players like Farniok, Wilson and Brokop play. There just may not be room or depth for both players, and that’s fine.
