Last week, we had to shut off nominations for the worst of the weekend. We pretty much knew we had a presumptive winner, so it would take an unbelievable amount of suckage in an evening game to make the list. This week, well, it's a light week in comparison...but hey, it's Monday and we must continue on with the Cobs of the Week.
Kansas
Baylor raced out to a 52-7 halftime lead, and told their starters to leave their pads in the locker room. That includes Baylor starting quarterback Seth Russell, who leads the nation in passing efficiency. Why mention Russell? Russell originally committed to Turner Gill to play for Kansas, but after Gill was fired, Charlie Weis decided to go a different direction at quarterback. So Russell ended up at Baylor and now quarterbacks the #2 team in the country.
Sometimes you do it to yourself.
Rutgers
Rutgers gave Michigan State everything they had and then some. Sparty took the lead in the final minute of the game, and Rutgers had one last chance to tie the game. But when Rutgers quarterback Chris Loviano was sacked on third down as time ticked away, Rutgers desperately lined up for the next play. But Loviano was more concerned with the clock than the down marker --- and spiked the ball.
On fourth down.
Interim head coach Norries Wilson clearly wasn't thrilled with that choice.
But after the game, Wilson took the blame for the mistake. (Weird that nobody else around him realized what had just happened.)
Oklahoma
Congratulations Big Game Bob... somehow you managed to lose to a four loss Texas team in the Red River Rivalry. No "Golden Hat" for you; how about a Cob instead?
Nebraska's Blackshirts
Lost two fourth quarter leads against Wisconsin by allowing Joel Stave to top the 300 yard mark passing. Yes, Wisconsin became the fifth Nebraska opponent to top the 300 yards passing mark this season.
