BTN aired the 1995 Orange Bowl last night. As I stated yesterday, that was the greatest game Tom Osborne ever coached. It was also one of the best teams he ever had. Husker fans would like to see that team duplicated today, complete with the dominance displayed by the offensive line.
There seems to be a prevailing attitude amongst Husker fans that were we only to duplicate the offense that we'd duplicate the team. This appears to translate itself into formations and plays, as in:
- We need to have a fullback and two tight ends.
- We need to run out of the I formation.
- We need to go back to running the option.
Compare these to a constant theme about Beck - that he needs to stop "being cute".
I am curious as to what fans mean when they say this.
Regarding pounding the ball, i.e., three yards a carry and wearing down a defense, do fans think the heavy/tight formations will do a better job at this than the spread formations Nebraska currently runs?
Do fans not recognize we're still option plays, just out of a different formation, i.e., is it the spread that bothers them?
It is about too many pass plays?
And last, what's wrong with the offense we've got?

Colin Kaepernick fined $11K for inappropriate language, will appeal - CBSSports.com
Colin Kaepernick has been fined $11,025 for saying something he claims he didn't say. The 49ers quarterback received a letter from the league on Wednesday saying that he's been fined for using 'inappropriate language' against the Bears.
Given what's going on in the NFL, this sounds asinine. Using "inappropriate language" on the football field during a game seems like such a petty, insignificant fine given what's going on everywhere else.
