Given that the 2013 Husker Volleyball team overachieved (thanks Robo!), it’s not a surprise that not much has happened in the offseason. However, spring is here!
Sand Volleyball
The Huskers released the Sand Volleyball schedule last month and it lasts all of ten days. The ladies play in Hawaii from the 20th to the 23rd of March first in a dual against Hawaii, then in the Hawaii Invitational against USC, Arizona, and Hawaii on the 21st and 22nd, and finally another dual against Hawaii Pacific on the 23rd.
On the 26th of March, the ladies play Arizona State, then Grand Canyon on the 27th and close their season against Grand Canyon and Arizona in the Grand Canyon Tournament on the 28th and 29th.
The Huskers enter the season ranked #7 in the nation.
Other Volleyball Notes
Once the sand season ends, the Huskers have two exhibition games scheduled. Spring exhibitions are a big part of college volleyball, and the Huskers will take on Iowa State in Ames on April 19, and then Creighton in Wayne, Nebraska on April 26.
Assistant Coach Dani Busboom was named on of the AVCA’s 30 under 30 as an up-and-coming coach to watch. The award was created in 2009 to recognize coaches at all levels of the sport (DANG IT! I’m too old!). This year’s award winners included 11 D1 coaches, four in D2, three in D3, four high school, three in NAIA and club, and two from the JuCo ranks.
