Report Card: The 2014 recruiting cycle

The Huskers signed 24 players through the cycle, but there were many aspects that bring out their final grade.

Meet your 2014 Walk On's

It's a big tradition at Nebraska, to be a local and to walk-on the program. These young men will continue on the legacy this year.

Meet your 2014 Nebraska Cornhusker Signees

Here's your one stop area to have all the names and links available to see who Nebraska signed.

Gates, Wills become final faxes into North Stadium

The last 2 faxes have made it to Lincoln. They are:

Nick Gates - Offensive Tackle, Bishop Gorman HS in Las Vegas, Nevada

DeAndre Wills - Defensive End, Clay Central HS in Lineville, Alabama.

This makes all 24 expected National Letters of Intent expected faxed into Lincoln accounted for. Robert Lockhart, the WR out of Hinds CC will not be sending his letter to Nebraska today. It is more probable that he is a May enrolee, because of grades.

This doesn't mean we're done with coverage of National Signing Day, of course. We'll have more today, including Head Coach Bo Pelini's comments on the class later this afternoon.

Newell signs, waiting on two

One we were all waiting on finally came through:

Peyton Newell - Defensive End, Hiawatha HS in Hiawatha, Kansas

As of now, we are waiting on Nick Gates and DeAndre Wills to send their faxes in. When they arrive, you will know.

Freedom, NOLA kids ink. Frison to OU

The newest faxes into North Stadium has arrived:

Freedom Akinmoladun - Tight End, Grandview HS in Grandview, Missouri

Glenn Irons - Wide Receiver, Edna Karr HS in New Orleans, Louisiana

Jariah Tolbert - Wide Receiver, Edna Karr HS in New Orleans, Louisiana

However, Nebraska is now 0 for 3 in decisions today. Not good.

Frison wasn't a need, necessarily. But still, for all the work Nebraska put in there like Blair, it stinks that they lost out on this one also.

However, Plan B in case Blake McClain didn't come to Nebraska isn't going to happen.

Like Jeff said.... this one was out of nowhere. Bright side: This opens up some spots for next year's amazingly thin class.

Mosley, Harrison, Brown "N", Blair to Mizzou

More faxes? More faxes.

Trai Mosley - Cornerback, Hendrickson HS in Pflugerville, Texas

Monte Harrison - Wide Receiver, Lee's Summit West HS in Lee's Summit, Missouri

Drew Brown - Kicker, Southlake Carroll HS in Southlake, Texas

Meanwhile, Desean Blair, who Nebraska really macked on hard, has decided to decommit from Louisville and sign with Missouri this morning.

7 more letters hit the fax machine.

A lot more faxes come across the machine in Lincoln very quickly. They are:

Sedrick King - Defensive End, Plant City HS in Plant City, Florida

D.J. Foster - Offensive Guard, Lincoln Southeast HS in Lincoln, Nebraska

Josh Kalu - Safety, Alief Taylor HS in Houston, Texas

Chris Jones - Cornerback, Sandalwood HS in Jacksonville, Florida

Mick Stoltenberg - Offensive Tackle, Gretna HS in Gretna, Nebraska

Larenzo Stewart - All Purpose Back, Klein Oak HS in Spring, Texas

Luke Gifford- Athlete, Lincoln Southeast HS in Lincoln, Nebraska

That makes approximately half of the expected letters to come into Lincoln by 8am.

Wilbon and Farmer are faxed

Two more Huskers have sent in the paperwork to North Stadium:

Tanner Farmer- Offensive Guard from Highland Park HS in Highland, Illinois

Mikale Wilbon - Running Back from De La Salle Institute in Chicago, Illinois

That makes seven total players either faxed in or enrolled into Nebraska from this class. 19 more to go.

A reminder that Kenyon Frison will be making his decision in about 45 minutes. We will be following and let you know what happens.

McClain flips to South Carolina

Unfortunately, this was probably inevitable.

McClain wanted to be a Husker very badly. However, Mom and Dad ended up being concerned about the distance from Jacksonville to Lincoln, and it's a much shorter drive to South Carolina from home.

With the Slade decommitment, this does hurt. How much, we won't really know till the end of the day.

Bush, Pierson-El kick off the day.

A slow time this morning in Lincoln. Weather issues have made things take a little longer than expected this morning. However, we have activity on the brand new fax machine in North Stadium. The first two signees are:

AJ Bush - Quarterback from Norcross HS in Alpharetta, Georgia

Demornay Pierson-El - Wide Receiver from West Potomac HS in Alexandria, Virginia

In other news, Nebraska decommit Darius Slade will NOT be signing with Michigan State this morning. The New Jersey Defensive End will be visiting Ohio State this weekend instead. I remember when he took Nebraska off alert that Larry Johnson Sr. who was close to Slade as he was being recruited by Penn State, visited him in his HS. Obviously, that relationship may come to fruition for the Buckeyes.
