Corn Flakes: It Was A Good Weekend

Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Spor

It was a good all-around weekend for Husker athletics.

The rifle team beat Army. The 9th-ranked softball team went 3-1, although they did lose their final game of the weekend to 12th-ranked Florida State.

The men's tennis team beat Denver, while the women's gymnastic team beat Penn State.

Men's basketball finally won a road game, outlasting Northwestern 53-49, and the women's team destroyed Michigan State in a game that, honestly, was hard to watch after a while as it was such a bashing.

An update on basketball standings:

Men's basketball is tied at ninth with Indiana, and with a beatable Illinois team (at 3-8 in conference), the Huskers could find themselves one game short of .500 before they head to East Lansing and take on Sparty, who's currently tied at the top of the conference with Michigan at 9-2.

The women are third at 7-3, behind Michigan State (8-3) and Penn State (9-2). They head to Michigan (5-6) Thursday and then get Indiana (4-6) back home on Sunday. Both are very winnable games (true for every game for women's basketball), but remains little margin for error if they want to win a Big Ten title.
