Wow. Visit the ESPN B1G power rankings and observe Iowegian heads exploding because Nebraska is ranked ahead of them. It is an understatement to say they are deeply insulted: http://espn.go.com/blog/bigten/post/_/id/93998/final-big-ten-power-rankings-for-2013 . Whether they should be is entirely subjective, but the Hawkeye comments on that thread are revealing.
If Newton's third law is true then it must be the worst thing to happen to Nebraska that Iowa beat us, because it sure seems to be the foundation of their self worth right now and proof the power rankings are bogus. That said, Nebraska lost to Iowa. Third string QB, decimated O line, whatever, no excuses need apply: we lost. But what do you do when the opponents instant and towering hubris makes it all but impossible to be a graceful loser? For all the crap Nebraska fans take for being fanatically protective of the Husker legacy, contrast the power ranking thread above with the ESPN Schlabach 'Way Too Early' rankings last week. What's missing are the Husker fans going all chimpanzee nuts about the #21 ranking of Iowa while Nebraska was unranked.
