Welcome to mediocrity

I remember when Tom retired from coaching my uncle , who has been around Husker football since the 40's said " WELL THE PROGRAMS WINNING WAYS COULD BE OVER. " I thought that was an odd comment at the time , as I have been following NU football since the 60's. I have been in denial ever since , but with the firing of Solich and then Callahan , it seems that both Pedersons comment ( wont let the program drift to mediocrity ) and my uncles comment are now HERE.

It probably is putting too much on Bo to expect the 90's type of DOMINATION. However , when you look at PARITY in college football today , most programs (except for Alabama) had better bring their best game , or you will be beaten by teams from IOWA STATE , BAYLOR or even WYOMING. OBVIOUSLY Pelini's recruiting has gotten used to the idea of lowering their targets from TOP NATIONAL to 3 stars. Every once in awhile we will get a Randy Gregory , but the bulk seems to be 3 star. Now Callahan garnered top recruiting , but didnt seem to coach them too well , and in College football you have to do both. However , Pelini's teams seem to always come with procedure penalties and turnovers. It has been a staple since his start , and it doesnt seem to be improving. I realize that the Wyoming game was the first of the year , but I expect the procedure penalties and TFumbles penchant for throwing a timely interception ( at a time when you need the defense off the field at a key time in the game ) will only continue. Hope I am wrong about that , but if you look at history ...

So unfortunately , and again I hope Bo proves me wrong , but I dont see much improvement from last year , I expect Michigan in their home stadium this year will blow us out , and if they dont Ohio state will , or if we have to play Wisconsin again , I dont see us competing ...again HOPE I AM WRONG. I still question our strength program , as we went for a fourth and inch's in the 4th quarter , and we were stopped. I dont understand why we ever went away from Boyd Epleys training , but maybe that is because creatine and steroids were a staple ?

Also , Bo has now set up good if not great recruiting channels and his teams do get a little better as time goes by so I sure dont know who could replace him and do a better job. So , I am afraid that MEDIOCRITY has arrived , WHAT DO YOU THINK ? Lets be REALISTIC
