Last week I altered the lines from A Few Good Men when posted in the comments of an article.
A colleague and I were talking about Star Wars when I had this inspiration. Fairly classic scene from A New Hope, fitting since my last post was about hope. It is in the war room on the Death Star, where a disagreement occurs between Imperial generals, Grand Moff Tarkin, and Darth Vader.
In keeping with the theme of my name, I just had to post it here.
(Note: I wanted to put a picture of the scene up, but then unsure if I would be allowed)
Coach Beck: Until the defense is fully operational, we are vulnerable. UCLA is too well equipped. They're more dangerous than you realize!
Coach Papuchis: Dangerous to your offense, Coach, not to this defense.
Coach Beck: UCLA will continue to gain support in the media, until...
Coach Bo: [walking in with Martinez] The reporters will no longer be of any concern to us. I have just received word that the AD has dissolved them permanently. The last remnants of the media have been swept away.
Coach Beck: That's impossible! How will the ESPN maintain control without the reporters?
Coach Bo: BTN now has direct control over this team. Fear will keep them in line. Fear of this defense.
Coach Beck: And what of UCLA? If UCLA has obtained a complete technical readout of this defense, it is possible — however unlikely — that they might find a weakness and exploit it.
Martinez: The plans you refer to will soon be back in our hands.
Coach Papuchis: Any attack made by UCLA against this defense would be a useless gesture, no matter what technical data they've obtained. This defense is now the ultimate power in the Big 10! I suggest we use it.
Martinez: Don't be too proud of this technological terror you've constructed. The ability to sack a QB is insignificant next to the power of the Option.
Coach Papuchis: Don't try to frighten us with your sorcerer's ways, Martinez. [Martinez walks toward Coach Papuchis, then slowly raises his hand] Your sad devotion to that ancient offense has not helped you conjure up the stolen playbooks or given you clairvoyance enough to find the UCLA playboo…- [grasps his throat as if he is being choked]
Martinez: I find your lack of faith disturbing.
Coach Bo: Enough of this. Martinez, release him!
Martinez: As you wish. [drops his hand and Papuchis’ head hits the table as he regains his breath]
Coach Bo: This bickering is pointless. Martinez will provide us with precision passing and timely runs by the time this defense is operational. We will then crush UCLA with one swift stroke.
