Mick Stoltenberg, DE from Gretna, Commits To The Huskers

CN

The third verbal of Big Red Weekend comes from the #2 ranked player in the state.

Nebraska is getting the verbal commitments they desperately needed during Big Red Weekend.

Gretna High's Mick Stoltenberg, the number 2 ranked player in the state of Nebraska per Rivals and the number 1 per 247 sports went ahead and made it official Saturday morning and gave his verbal to the Huskers. This was a surprise to me, as I thought he may want to go out to see how many more offers he could get. However, that was not the case.

At 6'5" and 240, Mick's height is ideal for a Defensive End, and it will be interesting to see if James Dobson and Rich Kaczenski will want him to bulk up a little bit before stepping on the field. Then again, if the D-Line is an issue this fall again, they may not wait that long.

Here are his Hudl highlights.

This makes verbal number seven for the Huskers, which is approximately one-third of the number they could take for the 2014 signing class. Could there be more? We shall see.

EDIT: Per Sam McKewon of the OWH here, Mick is being brought onto the team as either a Offensive Lineman or Tight End. Either way, he's going to be on the other side of the ball initially. Your guess why is as good as mine, considering that Nebraska needs as much talent on the D Line as they can get.
