BlogPoll Top 25 College Football Rankings - Week 1

Obligatory Alabama Dance Team photo. Yay.

I moved Alabama to #1 this week. It was not only because of their shellacking of Michigan, but it was their willingness to play the game. Look at whom the other top contenders played - USC vs Hawaii, LSU vs North Texas, and Oregon vs Arkansas State. Compared to Alabama and Michigan, those are some pretty weak match ups. Gutless, really.

Ever after one week, it was pretty clear that those top four teams are a cut above everyone else. At #5 you have Florida State. Or Oklahoma, who didn't look very impressive against UTEP. or Georgia, who played Buffalo. Or South Carolina, who had the guts to start the season off with a conference game. Western Virginia scored as they are wont to do, while Clemson played a tough game.

The bottom of this thing is a mess as usual. Ohio's win over Penn State bumps them up, but they'll only go so far in the coming weeks. Michigan does not drop like a rock for two reasons; the aforementioned guts in scheduling, and Alabama would probably do the same to most teams.

Notre Dame moved into the rankings because I thought they looked impressive against Navy. Miami, because I couldn't think of anyone else to put there.

Otherwise.... you know the drill! FEEDBACK!
