The University of Nebraska Athletic Department announced earlier that Athletic Director Tom Osborne and UNL Chanceller Harvey Perlman will be holding a press conference about "the future of Nebraska Athletics".

Speculation is that the announcement concerns Tom Osborne's retirement.

Osborne's expected replacement is Dr. Jamie Williams, who returned to the Nebraska Athletic Department earlier in 2012 after spending six years as the athletic director at Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Williams played for Osborne and spent 12 seasons in the NFL.

Another potential candidate includes Paul Meyers, who has been involved with the Nebraska athletic department since 1994. He has been involved with fundraising since 2000, and is currently the Associate Athletic Director of the Husker Athletic Fund.
