What Are Nebraska's "Bread And Butter Plays"?

Hey, maybe if the 2012 offense is an explosion we should call them Bread and Butter? Whatcha think?

If you're paying attention, you know it's Nebraska week at Off Tackle Empire (OTE). I've already shared part of today's story about Bo Pelini, and I agree with the author that Bo Pelini's biggest problem is that he's living in the shadow of Tom Osborne. Unfortunately, that's how it's going to be for any coach at Nebraska.

KennardHusker goes on to talk about the coordinators. This is part of what he says about Tim Beck:

The result? Well, it really depends on who you ask. In my opinion, the offense was generally a bright spot but was also extremely prone to outsmarting itself. Beck is new to calling all the shots and with new defensive schemes (read: defensive schemes in general) (that was a jab at the Big XII in case you didn't notice), he sometimes tried to do too much with too little. Still, Burkhead looked great and Taylor Martinez seemed more comfortable than he did in Watson's ridiculous multiple read offense. That is not to say that Beck is some simpleton, but this was a much more controlled set of plays.

Depends on who you ask..... oh, boy is that true. My opinion on Beck's first season is that he cost us games. He put Martinez in situations where he was not going to be successful, like, CALLING A PASS PLAY THE FIRST PLAY OF THE SECOND HALF AT WISCONSIN after we've already destroyed ourselves by throwing interceptions.

Granted, Martinez made have audibled into that one, but that's not the point.

My point is this, and it's something that's been bugging me for a while now. It's that I can't define Nebraska's "Bread And Butter" plays. You know what those are - those are the plays you run when you need yardage. When you need a third and two, you call X. When you have a third and seven, you call Y. They're plays that you know how to execute so well that the opposition isn't going to stop you the majority of the time.

So... tell me. What do you think were the most successful, consistent plays we executed last season? I have one in mind, but I'd like to hear your opinion.
