Patrick Witt accused of sexual assult.

Looks like the reason why former Nebraska quarterback Patrick Witt decided to play in the Harvard/Yale game was because of a possible sexual assault allegation. After the Rhodes scholarship board found out about it, they pulled his candidacy. It is an interesting end to say the least. I get the feeling it may have been a cover up to protect Witt, to avoid embarrassment?

It's all accusations at this point.

If it’s true, Witt just self destructed on a major scale.

If it’s false, however, Witt just got wronged on a major scale because everybody knows the accusations, but may never realize that he was falsely accused.

Not saying whether Witt is guilty or innocent at this point…just pointing out that Witt hasn’t actually been charged with anything.

This could get bad for Witt

I’ll preface what I’m about to say with this: if the allegations are true, he deserves to pay the full price associated with such a serious crime.

That said, even if he’s completely innocent, this is still a huge mess for him. Many universities across the country (I believe Yale is one of them) have policies that are extremely anti-male in situations like these. It’s not much of an exaggeration to say that if you’re a male student and you’ve been accused of sexual assault, you’re guilty until proven innocent as far as the university is concerned (think about that mess with Duke’s lacrosse team).

Obviously this has no bearing on criminal proceedings, but I’m sure things like refusing his application for graduation and expulsion are on the table if there’s even a shred of evidence suggesting he’s done something wrong.
