Wow, A&M is really bad at this
or maybe the SEC. If this proves anything, its being a free agent university like Nebraska makes switching conferences so much easier.

It could be that
There’s a rumor going around that OK,OK St., TX and TT have worked out some sort of deal with the PAC12…
Texas isn't interested.
If they lose the Oklahomas and pick up Houston, TCU and two other random mid-majors, they get a BCS AQ with almost no competition year to year. It’d be the worst AQ conference in the country but they’d get to a BCS game every year plus keep a winning record AND be able to strong arm 8 home games a year.
Brilliant move by Texas, really.

I'm starting to think along these lines as well.
I think the Big XII survives but it could look VERY different next year.
In the deed, the glory.

My Sooner wife is already dreading that scenario...
I will say this, if OU does go that way, methinks that Neb did far better for itself than OU in this mess.
Google's homepage celebrates too much shit.
There's a simple solution to all of this nonsense...
Pull the plug on the Longhorn Network.
If Texas is serious about saving the Big XII,they’ll sacrifice the network…because if Texas goes to the Pac-16, they’ll have to shut it down anyway. Bottom line is that they can’t keep LHN.
Pull plug? Non starter...
I’m reading that the Pac12 is setting up 2-team regional networks for everyone (Washington/Wash ST; Oregon/O ST; etc). All Texas would have to do is include Texas Tech and rename it “The Lone Star Network” and they’d be good to go. But it is also sounding like they no longer have an interest in joining the Pac12, so it’s a non-issue. It would be fun to see them go it alone as an independent. I hear that’s working our real well for ND these last 10 years…
Go Huskers!
Well, independence *has* worked for ND, actually.
They have a sweet-heart TV deal based on their successes from pre-1990s. It’s carried them in to the 2010s and allowed them to stay “relevant” to the media despite the significant shift South in football relevance.
Come 2014 or whenever their deal expires, look for Notre Dame to look at conference membership a little more closely.

I don't think they can just "rename it"
The Pac-12 owns the “regional” networks. Texas and ESPN own the LHN. I’ve been looking to find who the media partner is for the Pac-12 networks are, and not finding it (but I thought it was Fox). So they’d not only have to bring in Tech, but give up ownership and control to the league (and if Fox is involved, a competitor).
There was also part of the LHN contract that stated Texas wouldn’t be on another’s conference/school network. So, according to the contract, you couldn’t watch Washington State/Texas on the Washington Regional Sports Network (or whatever they’d name it).
Actually, it's the Pac themselves
The Pac-12 will not, however, hand over the conference network to the various cable companies involved. Instead, it will keep ownership over the newly formed networks, and keep all the equity as part of the deal. The Pac-12 will own and control the newly formed national and regional networks over the life of the deal.
ESPN and Fox hold Tier 1 and Tier 2 media rights. But according to that quote, the Pac wholly owns the Pac 12 Network.
So yeah, in order for Texas to keep the LHN, it would look like ESPN and Texas would have to completely divest itself of involvement and in ESPN’s case, all of it’s equity.
Damn reply fail
