Kody Spano Hangs Up His Shoulder Pads
Quarterback Kody Spano announced tonight on Twitter that he's done playing football. This spring, Spano suffered a serious shoulder injury before the spring game, leading to speculation his career was over. Spano plans to remain with the football program, helping the younger quarterbacks and signalling plays.

Glad to hear
that Spano is staying with the program, if only in a “helper” role.
Now, what about the depth at QB. Does this make Bubba’s decision even more critical? And do the coaches put Jamal Turner back at that position?
They're 18 to 22...how perfect were you at that age?

Man
talk about tough luck. Glad he’s staying with the program, though.
I think Nebraska has some decent depth at quarterback. Right now, Martinez is the clear starter, and Cody Green has some starting experience as well, although obviously he has to work on getting his passing down. Brion Carnes played well enough in the spring game that he might just well be the backup heading into the season.
I think Starling’s decision is critical because Starling is that good. It’s not a matter of depth – any time you can get that quality of a player you’re doing well.

Damn.
The phrase “If it wasn’t for bad luck, I wouldn’t have any” comes to mind.

Nebraska Will honor His Scholarship, Right?
I thought NU honored scholarships in hardship cases like this. That would mean we don’t have one open, right?

Since he's not playing football...
…it doesn’t count against the 85 scholarship limit for football. But NU will honor that scholarship; he just moves to the college equivalent of “physically unable to play” list.
