Ohio State Press Conference Live Thread- Ohio State suspends Tressel for Two Games
If you're wondering what Ohio State fans are saying about the Jim Tressel situation, SB Nation's "Along The Olentangy" has a live thread happening where you can catch comments.
Bottom line - Tressel will serve a two-game suspension, pay a $250k fine (!), attend a compliance class and have to listen to 40 hours of Hillary Clinton speeches.

So the moral of this story is?
If you screw up, hide the evidence. If/when someone digs up the evidence, come out right away and apologize.
In the deed, the glory.

Well thank God he didn't get fired
Gotta admire the balls of tOSU to suspend him for Akron and Toledo though. I’m sure them deciding that 2 weeks was enough had nothing to do with Miami being week 3. /sarcasm

Have a feelin'
The NCAA may tack on a game or two, along with a few Benjamins. Knowingly suppressing things like this on the way to a conference championship and then berating the players and con-ing them into staying another year can’t sit too well with the NCAA, no matter what tOSU does in terms of suspensions/fines.
Also, I know this site is generally a politics-free zone
But the Hillary Clinton line kinda opened this up:

Like that is all he is going to get
Although the Hilary Clinton speeches might be a tad bit cruel and unusual I’d swallow my gum if the NCAA doesn’t vacate all of OSU’s wins from last season tack on a few more games to that suspension that are played in the conference part of their schedule (think Bruce Pearl) and pull at least a few scholarships (I mean wasn’t the fact that the NCAA suspected a USC coach of having knowledge of their violations the whole reason for them losing scholarships) anything less and I’d be disgusted with the NCAA.
WHAT????
no one is swayed by this defense?
Tressel claimed that he was not forthcoming about the timeline because he’d been told by an attorney that a federal drug trafficking investigation involving multiple Buckeyes players was ongoing, and that he should keep certain information confidential.

How thin
is the ice in Columbus for Tressel. If this snowballs into more and more I wonder what the administration will do. This isn’t the first thing to happen at Ohio State since he’s been there. Clarrett in the championship year seems to have slipped everyones mind. What it looks like from the outside is he turned his head and hoped no one would find out what was going on. But, we don’t know all the facts at first glance it doesn’t look good. But neither did the Phillips situation when Osborne was head coach here.
Hmmm...
if it were some 3rd teamers, it would’ve been full disclosure from the get-go.
I'm your huckleberry.
Tressel is an absolute
hypocrite! He tells those players that they can play in the bowl game if they promise to come back next year and sit out the five games! What the hell is that?!?! The man of “integrity” that writes books on character and “doing right” now has to look in the mirror. However, people like tend to see a different image than the rest of us. Just like Bill McCartney who professed to be of such high moral character. Hell, he even started Promise Keepers! And yet, where was all this integrity when they got that fifth down? Those who hold themselves up to be “holier than though” had better make damn sure that the skeletons never existed in the closet!
