Pelini Working to Get Shawn Watson NFL Job
Tom Shatel reports that Bo Pelini is calling around the NFL to find an NFL opening for Shawn Watson. Once all the loose ends are cleared in Lincoln, Pelini then can announce his revised staff.
So it's clear now that Watson is out, and things are progressing. The more I learn, the clearer it becomes that Pelini is doing the right thing for the people in the program... no matter what clueless radio people think.
And you know what, Pelini's right. So now we sit back and wait for everything to work itself out. How does this make you feel, Husker fans?

As far as Jim Rose is concerned, he’s not worth listening to. He takes cheap shots at people or ideas he doesn’t agree with (or understand) while he’s on air. This was a prime example of what he does. He doesn’t know the story and he starts crap about it.
Jim Rose knows what the story is...
…he’s still involved with the program through his employer. Which raises the question of why the hell he’d spout off like that. Hopefully it’s just because he’s a bitter, bitter man…
I hadn't heard what Rose is up to until I read your post
Other than being the Husker PPV sideline guy, anyway. Guh. I wasn’t paying as much attention yet when Callahan was coaching, so I hadn’t realized how tied he is/was to the former regime.

This sounds like quintessential Bo
Honest, stand-up guy, intensely loyal – even while he’s firing someone! – class act, but he (and the athletic department PR people) are pretty bad at conveying that to the public (something it doesn’t seem he cares that much about anyway), so he’s still been getting raked over the coals for all of this.
Like I said a few threads ago, the main question he needed to answer was why Corey Raymond’s boss announced he was taking a job that no one else even knew was open – and that was announced within a day of when it came up. I’m fine with waiting until everything’s in place before we hear official news about the new staff – we’re all finding out exactly what’s happening through all these leaks anyway.
My thoughts exactly.
I despise obfuscation in all its forms, and lately there’s been a lot of junk coming out of the football complex in Lincoln. I still insist that until the football program gets its PR on a level with its defense, these things will continue to distract from the very real good work going on in Lincoln.

with you C,myself, I was getting tired of the delay but this is a TOTAL surprise and I’m impressed.

How does that old song go?
“Thank God and Greyhound, you’re gone.”
"Where do you put the bayonet?" (upon seeing a flamethrower fo the first time)
What happens if he doesn't find him a job?
Does Watson still stay? Or does Pelini say, “Sorry, I tried. See ya later” Watson does have pretty good credentials for most jobs. But as it’s been said, he’s just a square peg in a round hole here at Nebraska.
I kind of wondered about that too.
It’s a bit tough to imagine some NFL team saying, “Sure, Watson has no NFL experience and was bad enough running your offense that you’re firing him, but we’ll hand him a spot.”
