Nebraska Cornhuskers vs Michigan Wolverines - Second Half Thread

Michigan leads 17-10.

They've held the ball 21 minutes of the first half. They're converting most of their third downs.

After all that, Nebraska is only down seven. That's not so bad so keep the faith!

Good tackling today.

At least that bug-a-boo isn’t there. Just need to stop shooting ourselves in the foot with penalties and drops.

Wow, Wisconsin

After they played us, you would have thought they were going to be in the NC game. What a let-down for them.

The good news

As far as I can remember, Wisconsin is the only game out of 10 so far that our offense didn’t get its shit together in the second half.

I don't take issue with our penalties

I take issue with their lack of them. They should have about 5 for 40.

We're lucky to be in this game...

…but some of that is due to the horrific refing. Nebraska 4 penalties for 37 yards, Michigan only one called for 5 yards.

Offensive line is getting destroyed for the most part. Defense is ok, but they need help and calls to stop going against them.

Our offensive line looks lame out there today. Hopefully this halftime the coaches remind the team what they’re probably playing for today. Because of our little derp against jNW, this is more or less our play in game for the BCS. We MUST win those battles in the trenches in the second half.

We had basically pathetic Offenses, and really good Defense. Now we have what i would rate Medeocre Offense, and the D has no rush, can’t stop rushing qb’s. Really,i feel this year Nebraska has regressed. It would be understandable if it weren’t 80 % fixable that just isn’t getting done.

I realize that we've done plenty to help UM along the way

But counting the way the refs have screwed us so far:

First NU drive: uncalled DPI on 3rd down.
Second UM drive: extended because of uncalled OPI on third down.
Second NU drive: ended because of uncalled DPI on third down
Some other Michigan TD drive: minimal contact DPI on NU to extend drive on third down.
Latest Michigan drive: weak roughing the kicker penalty to extend another Michigan drive.

I’m sure I’m missing some but this has kind of been like a fog all day.

For all those saying that it's the refs or "flukes"

it’s not. Nebraska is just a slightly better-than-average team this year. A good win against Iowa and a bowl win against a strong team will help to set the Huskers for a more productive season next year.

I also really do think that it does probably take a year for the coaching staff to understand the league and opponents and game plan more effectively.

Uh no

Nothing really fluky about Northwestern, we played poorly, they outplayed us and deserved to win. In Wisconsin there was some bad officiating, but it in no way caused that loss.

Today has just been a comedy of pro-Michigan errors by the refs, errors that are ridiculous even by Nebraska standards committed by our offense, defense, and especially special teams. Like I said earlier, it’s a Murphy’s Law day for NU.

So who here thought we would end the season

as the 4th or 5th best team in the B1G? I bet we play a Big XII team now in the Insight bowl. Missouri here we come!

by BledRed on Nov 19, 2011 2:16 PM CST reply actions

I'd love to see NU-Texas

(but that would probably require Texas to win out).

Even though it would be a second-tier game, it would feel like it meant something and get a lot of national interest.

Ugh

I was disapointed a couple of weeks ago when I realized I wouldn’t be able to go to a bowl, because of work.

But now? It’s a blessing. Missouri? Kansas State? Yeah, I’d rather stay home.

we’d be the 3rd best team in our DIVISION?

by HuskerINtheArmy on Nov 19, 2011 2:19 PM CST up reply actions

Ok

Time to step back from the edge! It’s only a game! (just talking to myself by the way)

by Omahusker on Nov 19, 2011 2:18 PM CST reply actions

Anyone agree with me?

Massive drop rate by WRs.

D-Line that isn’t very physical.

QB and offense designed to grind out the clock punishingly hard to come back from mistakes.

by Jepp The Viking on Nov 19, 2011 2:19 PM CST reply actions

I think you misunderstand our offense

it’s not the 90’s offense. We don’t grind the clock. We grind the defense.

by HuskerINtheArmy on Nov 19, 2011 2:20 PM CST up reply actions

Our D-Line

is freeking tired. They’ve been on the field 80% of the time.

by ~OnlyJade~ on Nov 19, 2011 2:20 PM CST up reply actions

they scored?

oh. what I’m shocked by this?

I don't put this loss on TMart

He wasn’t good, but no one was, and he only had one turnover. And got no help from his offensive line or receivers. Again.

I dunno

taking sacks vs. getting rid of the ball. He regressed. But yes, we were 100% not ready to play. This was horrible, worse than wisconsin horrible.

by meatybob on Nov 19, 2011 2:30 PM CST up reply actions

Well, I agree more or less actually.

Martinez doesn’t deserve the loss, but the offense/special teams were much worse than the defense.

Yeah

The defense did alright (EXCEPT ON THIRD DOWN) they just got worn out.

Wow, at times, we are a very stupid team

Is it really that hard to coach holding the ball high and tight? Bell was horrible today, drops, fumbles. I dunno, losing to Michigan is one thing, getting blown out to a team that will probably lose by 3 TD to whatever SEC team they face in their bowl is unacceptable.

Google's homepage celebrates too much shit.

Two dropped touchdowns in 3 plays

Why not.

Looked like Bell...

…thought the ball would be picked or tipped, and took his eye off it.

The dropped TD passes in a row

You dont even need to play defense against us.

by HuskerINtheArmy on Nov 19, 2011 2:26 PM CST reply actions

Wow

I’m impressed it took almost all game for someone to mention the scandal.

by ~OnlyJade~ on Nov 19, 2011 2:28 PM CST reply actions

I'm so sick of seeing this team get close and then CHOKING

We were in the top 10, we choke against Wisconsin.

We have control of our division and CHOKE against Northwestern.

And this is an even worse Choke.

I’m running out of words for this team. They seriously cannot stay focused for more than two weeks at a time. Bo’s “process” clearly isn’t working.

Look me up on youtube sometime...if you're really bored.

by Billgrip on Nov 19, 2011 2:28 PM CST reply actions

Yea

We are not consistent at all. Which means that the high times are basically worthless.

by BledRed on Nov 19, 2011 2:34 PM CST up reply actions

This is going to be fun

We will be unranked and playing a Big XII team to close out the year.

by BledRed on Nov 19, 2011 2:28 PM CST reply actions

I wouldn't be too sure

We should still finish 9-3 and if we do that I think the Outback Bowl will take us even though we don’t deserve it.

So now people aren’t allowed to express why they think their team doesn’t preform well in pressure?

that's reasonable.
