College Football Rankings: BlogPoll Top 25 - Week 12
LSU remains at #1 - no shock there, but how 'bout those Oklahoma State Cowboys? They seem to be getting overlooked in the national scheme of things. Maybe that's because they've never really made it - always a bridesmaid never a bride, that sort of thing. But they sure as hell can score. They're second nationally in scoring offense at 51.7 points per game. Can they outscore teams like LSU, Oregon, and Alabama? Wouldn't you like to see Oregon play the Cowboys for a national title?
It'd be nice if Houston would lose. I don't hate Houston (Yes I do) and I wouldn't shed any tears of LSU or Alabama (or both) lost a game. Just for once, it'd be nice to see the SEC not make a national title game. Too bad about Boise State (not really) but this is the time of year the things start taking care of themselves.
As for the rest, hell, you tell me.

No arguments from me.
It’s late enough in the season that I like those rankings.
A Cornhusker through feast or famine. Get up, dust yourself off and run the ball. That's the Nebraska way.

Also, the world would end if the "national" media didn't put a SEC team in the NC.
It’s basically the SEC vs EVERYONE ELSE game at this point, kind of like the Texas vs the Nation High School Stars game.

Hasn't the SEC earned it?
After 5 straight National Championships the attitude of putting an SEC into the NC game by the media seems fair. They have earned this level of respect and until another conference can step up and knock them down it will continue.
Insert witty retort here.
(Yes.)
(That’s besides the point. We’re grumpy old-money football program fans upset that our team hasn’t reached the big party in almost two decades. LET US HAVE OUR INDIGNATION.)
My question is – how many seasons of losses in the Big Game or even Littler Games would it take to knock the SEC down? Just so, you know, we can get everyone on the same page. I mean, obviously we’ll have to forbid some teams from playing the SEC, ever. Like most of the Big Ten…

I suspect
the SEC would have to throw an 0-fer in their bowl games. Heck. They were 5-5 last bowl season. If they were sub-.500 this year I think it’d raise an eyebrow.
Having 10 bowl eligible teams will help the B1G this year- if we can win at .750 or more I think it’d go a long way in overtaking the SECs credibility for next season. Especially with a couple of big wins over them in bowl games. Go B1G!

Michigan St. 8th, Jon?!?
Why?
Their two losses weren’t even close, and their signature win was on a hail mary in one of the flukiest games of the season. If they meet up with Wisconsin again for the championship game (as I expect they will), they will get rocked.
Because they didn't lose, and the teams in front of them did?
Honestly, Sparty can sit up there and then die a fiery death at the hands of Indiana. That would be okay with me. Also, it would be the most amazing thing ever.

I enjoyed the lead in
it’d be nice to see the SEC not make a national title game
That’s free thinking there! However, Georgia at 10? That’s definitely not free thinking there. How ‘bout them dogs? They have two losses and ZERO wins against teams that are currently ranked. In the last month you’ve taken them from unranked to #10 for wins over Vanderbilt, Florida, New Mexico State, and Auburn. Come on…
Not sure why you have Kansas State at #23, I feel like they should be somewhere in the low to mid teens. Their only losses came from two of your top 5 teams.
IMO:
1, LSU
2, OkSt
3, Oregon
4, Alabama
5, Okla
6, Arkansas
7, Clemson
8, Houston
9, Stanford
10, VaTech
11, Kansas State
12, Michigan State
13, Wisconsin
14, Nebraska
15, Boise State
16, Michigan
17, South Carolina
18, Georgia
19, Southern Miss
20, Penn State
21, TCU
22, Notre Dame
23, West Virginia
24, Baylor
25, Florida State

I agree for the most part
I just don’t get putting Houston that high. What puts them in the top 10? The 4 point win over UCLA? The 1 point win over La Tech? They will probably end up in a BCS bowl and be the least deserving team there. Well, besides whoever wins the Big Least.
It's the required non-AQ team.
Since ND will never be that team, someone has to be.

There is no required non-AQ team
They only get an automatic bid if they are in the top 14 (or 16 depending on where all the league champs are ranked) and win their conference. That’s why Boise is just about guaranteed not to make the BCS, hopefully Houston loses to So Miss in their league champ game. If so, it’s likely no non-AQ team makes a bcs bowl.
Of course, all of this doesn’t matter if Neb can’t take care of business over the next two weeks.
I meant "token".

Part "token AQ team"
part undefeated. If they lost, they’d fall far in my book. Basically a house of cards. Kansas State and Virginia Tech are in the same boat for me also.
