Huskers vs. Golden Gophers - 2nd Half Open Thread
TCF Bank Stadium looks about half red as the Huskers lead Minnesota 34-0 at halftime. While the Huskers have been dominating on both sides of the ball, Minnesota seemed to do just about everything in their power to self-destruct. Fumbles, penalties.. even tackling their own return guy on a kickoff.
So how soon will we see Brion Carnes in the second half? How many carries do the freshmen I-backs (Ameer Abdullah, Aaron Green, and Braylon Heard) get?
And how ugly could this one get? 1983 ugly?

2nd half.
Bring in the Kiddie corp.

Good 1st half
Hopefully the backups get some quality experience in the 2nd half.

We scored on every offensive possession in the first half.

Bunch of long throws and a missed field goal.
Complete lack of hunger. Get those guys off the field.
If Beck
doesn’t try to get cute and work on the passing game, it’s 44-0.
Kids, you tried your best and you failed miserably. The lesson is, never try.
It should be though
Turner should have had that.

3 and out for the defense
They are doing well. Now we just need to play efficiently, take some time off and get another score. Then it’s Brion time

Air Force is giving Boise a pretty good challenge into the 3rd quarter

No idea.
A Cornhusker through feast or famine. Get up, dust yourself off and run the ball. That's the Nebraska way.

I don't like this.
Playing your starters in a game that is well in hand trains your starters to play below their abilities, play at a slower speed. This will only hurt us next week.
I have this feeling
that Bo won’t pull them until we score again.

why do the announcers
keep talking about how tm can’t throw? i mean, we all know that already. give it a rest brock. not like you were something special in the nfl or anything.

with a stroll in for a TD.

Lol at the announcers
They are acting like the score being 7-7 in the 3rd quarter is actually relevant.

I don't see any harm in pointing out that Minnesota is trying to take some pride in their play for at least one half
They could have acted like Kansas and just folded, but they’re still trying to play with some emotion.

Good point

Well the 3rd quarter wasn't pretty
I think the play calling at the start of the 3rd quarter wasn’t good, and our receiver’s drops didn’t help. Maher had an epic miss on that 51 yard field goal try. Minnesota had a somewhat lucky trick play where Alfonzo Dennard got caught off guard.
The 4th quarter will be back-up time, so I wouldn’t expect much from it.

I'm not saying run it up
but I hate how they just kind of go through the motions with a lead.

We covered the spread, we gave up a TD late in the 4th quarter with backups in
Can’t complain too much. Too bad the starters didn’t dominate the 3rd quarter, but a win is a win. A 41-14 win is a good win.
