If it's true ,,,,Great....
Now if there was only someone to coach him to his full potential!!!!
Matthew 11:28-30
Smoke em' if you got em'!!!
Low and Slow!!!
Not sure how I feel about that...
But I am willing to shut my mouth and buckle of for the roller coaster ride that will be – Next Season!
Thank God!
We need a guy like Martinez in our arsenal. Putting all the drama aside, the kid has talent and deserves another season to mature and see what happens. As fans, we need to stay calm and wait patiently. These aren’t NFL players in their mid-20’s and 30’s playing football full time. Although they may have it on easy street, they still have to perform in school and deal with the stress of being a name on campus and balancing home life with school life. I know most people don’t understand that but we’re all wired differently. Those scholarships are handed out based on talent, not mental fortitude. Were you spending hours studying for exams and watching game footage along with practices and socializing when you were 18-23? That’s a talent all on its own. These players have to sacrifice a lot and we expect them to but lets not forget that we all liked to have fun when we were younger and in school. I can’t wait to see what he has for us next season and the next two after that.
I think this is really good news
Obviously, no one is a big fan of all the drama created around Martinez and his father in the past month, and no one is too pleased about his apparent lack of leadership skills. But I think with another 9 months to mature, watch film, practice, and learn…Martinez will be better next year.
I also think that Watson knowing Martinez is going to be back will help him when looking at how to improve his offense next season. He will be able to build on the offense that he made this season, rather than have to come up with entirely new schemes to fit a new quarterback…like he has the past two seasons. This probably means a little bit more direction in the scheme rather than this strange marriage of zone read west coast that even Washington could figure out how to stop. I’m being optimistic, but maybe Watson will actually have a plan B with his offense for playing behind or playing without Martinez. I feel like this year’s offense lacked that because it seemed to have been decided on right before the season opener when they decided they were going with Martinez.
And maybe they’ll finally trust Cody Green enough to run the same offense if Martinez gets hurt again.
Also
This probably decreases the already slim chances that Bubba Starling will be in Lincoln next fall, and this probably means either a redshirt or position change for Jamaal Turner, or a position change for Cody Green and Jamaal Turner as backup QB…but I doubt that happens with Green’s experience level being fairly decent.
I would assume nothing...
It’s going to be a fascinating ride to see where this goes. I’ve got to admit I was disappointed that this came from Daddy, but the back story is that Eric Olson of the AP e-mailed Casey to ask what was up, and Casey Martinez answered it and sent the response to everybody in the media.
The first sign that Taylor wants to take a leadership role (which I think is one of his major problems) is for him to come out and say all of this.
