Time Warner: Big Ten Network Coming to Nebraska?
Time Warner announced that Lincoln Nebraska customers who have the digital tier will get the Big Ten Network tomorrow on channel 1238 for HD and 238 for standard definition. Looking at the list of cable providers on the Huskers.com PPV page reveals that there are a lot of you that'll still be up in the air about whether you're getting the Big Ten Network.
This begs the question - when will it be available for everyone else?
The easiest way to find out if you can get Big Ten Network is to go to the BTN's Gamefinder web page and enter your zip code. You'll be asked to choose the provider in your area and be able to find out if they provide it or not. For example, North Platte, 69101 - you don't have it yet, which means you might want to start bugging your cable provider or consider switching to satellite.
The bottom line on BTN coming to Lincoln is - now Big Ten Network basically has leverage on every other cable operator in Nebraska. Fans are going to be asking more about how and when they'll get it.
I've had Big Ten Network since Dish Network has provided it, but I've watched it a lot more coming into this season. Husker fans will be excited about the addition - the programming and coverage is outstanding.
Best of all - next season - no more $39.95 PPV games!!!!

With the sports tier
Big Ten Iowa HD is only in the sports tier, and I’ll wait for it to move to basic/extended basic/whathaveyou.

Don't hold your breath...
…Cox has been trying to move channels off of basic as much as they are permitted. I doubt BTN will end up on basic; it’ll be digital only.
It looks like
TWC in Lincoln only has access to the main BTN right now and none of the overflow channels. Hopefully they will soon add at least one so that more than one game at the same time can be shown.
Oh well, baby steps.

I'm in Des Moines
and I can’t get the PPV here. Selfishly, I was for the move to the Big Ten just because I know I’ll finally get to watch some games.
I’m still never even sure when I’m going to get any of the ABC games. I once got really excited for a game last year when my cable guide showed that they were carrying the Nebraska game. I was looking forward to it all week, and then I sit down to watch, and they’re playing some Iowa game instead. How can you do that to somebody?

both channels are active right now (w/o programming info on the guide) on twc service in york, btw. i’d assume all other twc customers in nebraska now have coverage as well.
