Are they allowed to join a BCS league if they want to?
Do they have the funds and ability to be independant if they want to (and would they then get Notre Dame treatment)?
Are they expected to give up some of their budget and recruits to make the rest of their current league better?
Is their overall schedule easier than most/all BCS teams’? Yes. Should you always hold that against them when it comes to a chance at a championship? No. They tend to beat the teams in front of them, including the BCS teams they play.
Now, if they get an invite to the Pac 10/12, or maybe even Big 12, and they turn it down, that’s on them (can’t expect them to join the Big East or ACC, etc). But if they’re not given a seat at a BCS conference table, quit lauding it against them and holding them back.
Yes, I wanna see a playoff. Then none of this would matter. If they win out, they’d have to play the best of the best at the end of the year, and if they really aren’t all that good, they’ll be exposed. But damn it, they could very well beat those teams too (unless it’s the Huskers).
If Nebraska had a schedule
like theirs every year, beat one or two really good teams every year, and then play their(BSU) schedule, do they deserve a shot at the title game,,,given Nebraska was in the WAC??? Is it deserved?

We’re already criticized for playing in the weak North. Let Washington lose next week as well, and maybe other teams have worse years than expected. What if Texas and Oklahoma (or Texas and Texas) were our only ranked teams? At the end of the 2009 year, the only conference teams on this year’s schedule that were ranked (USA Today Coaches) were Texas and Oklahoma State. What if those two are our “Virginia Tech and Oregon State”?
Just saying that they’re beating the teams in front of them. If they’re ducking all BCS teams and scheduling FCS teams (at least all of their opponents are in the FBS), then yeah, pass them over. If they’re invited to join a BCS league and decline, pass them over. As it is, they’re trying to improve their competition by moving to the MWC. They’re not trying to back in or sneak their way in. If they win out, and there’s no undefeated or only one undefeated BCS team, then yes, they should be in the BCS Championship game. If there are two…then it depends on the teams involved (and schedule will be looked at).
For Boise to gain my support for a national title run
They need to schedule four top 25 teams in the non conference and at least one in the top ten and THEN go 12-0. Yeah, you can’t guarantee where your future opponents will be athletically, but you can sure as hell try harder than them. I count Oregon State and VT as being opponents that fulfill this. But Wyoming and Toledo aren’t very ambitious choices, especially when the rest of their conference is so pedestrian.
Maybe I’m just peeved that their AD ran from Osborne’s challenge, idk. I’m just saying that when they play and sweep Ohio State, Oregon State, Arkansas, and Pittsburgh in the same year, I will have zero problem with letting them in the BCS Title game at 12-0. At least then they didn’t have a one game season.
