Waiting For The Nebraska Game Open Thread - Watchya Doing This Weekend?

MemorialEndZone
You wish you were there, don't you?

The worst thing about evening games is the waiting. Nebraska's season opener, so close, but yet.. so far...  it's like that last mile when ya gotta pee real bad and you've driven eight-ten hours and you just want to get back home.

Hey, we're here for you. If you haven't already introduced yourself in the roll call, please do so, and consider yourself welcomed to the community. (You'll need an account to post and if you want to contribute more than that, there's even a tutorial available.)

Star-divide

Whooeee! It's the first full weekend of college football. Don't know about you, but I don't get out much (not even making that up). I tend to get up early, watch ESPN's College Gameday (except for any Lou Holtz segments) and then flip between as many games as possible until the Big Red comes on.

Consider this your open thread until the Nebraska game starts at 6:00 pm (oh so far away). In the meantime, let us know - watchya doing this weekend? Any special plans? Any great food you got planned for game time? Any bold predictions for the season? Any games besides Nebraska you're wild about watching?

More importantly - who's Nebraska's starter at quarterback?

Just waking up

desperatly trying to find my vintage Husker hat while recovering from last night before I head to the tailgate. Then it’s off to the game. It’s been a long offseason but now gameday is here.

Zac Lee will be throwing bombs for us this season.

by Restnessizzle on Sep 4, 2010 10:20 AM CDT via mobile reply actions

I'm going fishing this afternoon, and then home to listen to the game.

I’ve got a keg of homebrew ready to tap for game time.

Will the Big Ten network televise these “pre-season” type games?

by Trey Hillman's Chin on Sep 4, 2010 10:28 AM CDT reply actions

No

there will be no Husker sports on BTN this year – we’re still under the Big 12 contracts until we officially join the Big Ten.

It’d be nice…..$40 a game – that’s two (or more) cases of cheap beer…

Yeah, I was more wondering about next year. Will they televise every game or will games like this one be bumped for other match-ups? And more impotently, will I get to see them in Des Moines, or am I doomed to only see Iowa games?

by Trey Hillman's Chin on Sep 4, 2010 10:58 AM CDT via mobile up reply actions

hmmmmm

that’s a good question.

BTN should pretty much televise every game. Right now on BTN – is Iowa vs E Illinois, and Penn State vs Youngstown State, so there are multiple channels. It’s whether or not your cable provider (I have Dish Network) will have all the channels available.

I can't find a 2nd BTN Channel.

Hopefully we’ll just schedule at opposite times.

by Trey Hillman's Chin on Sep 4, 2010 12:41 PM CDT via mobile up reply actions

Do you have...

Dish, DirecTV, digital cable?

I can only speak for digital cable and DirecTV when I tell you that all secondary BTN airings are on the same tiers you find the sports packages; NFL Sunday Ticket, MLB Extra Bases, ESPN College Gameplan, etc…

Jon equates everything to the cost of beer

How much is that doggie in the window? Well, it’s about 10 cases of cheap beer. I like your thinking…

I’ve set up shop in a maternity room in Des Moines. My son, Nebraska’s starting QB for 2029, arrived yesterday, just in time. (He must’ve known GameDay was coming) Whoohoo!!! So, we are dressing him in his first Husker outfit, and ordering in food while we listen to the radio stream. Not ideal, but at least it’s not the Texas game.

Watching the Iowa game here though, curious to see if they are as good as the hype.

Well if he's the choice

It could be that Bo is willing to sacrifice a game or two this year in order to make a bang our first year in the Big 10 this year. I’m sure he’d rip me out for even suggesting that, but with our defense, trying to prevent turnovers and giving away points seems like our best bet for this year.

Well

They’re in the game heading into halftime. That was looking far from a sure thing about 10 minutes ago. And who was that injured Michigan player on UConn’s scoring play? If it’s bad at all, that’d be a big blow because he’s presumably from their secondary which is already thin.
