Nebraska Moves Up in Coaches Poll, Stays #6 In AP
In case you were worried about what yesterday's game against South Dakota State would do to Nebraska's rankings, the answer is -
Nothing.
The Huskers moved up one spot to #6 in the coaches poll due to Texas' 34-12 loss against UCLA, and they maintained their #6 position in the AP Poll.
The general feeling seems to be that the Huskers should have dropped, but take a look at the other 4-0 teams in the rankings and let me know of which teams haven't had a close game or struggled at some point already this season.

On your last point...
well, Stanford. And you can say that LSU, Arizona, Auburn, and Utah all have had better wins vs. Neb’s Washington, which is looking worse with BYU’s season taking a nose dive. But then again, I would say that only Alabama, OSU, and Boise State have really separated themselves with big wins (and in Boise’s case, that may be a stretch) and OSU is the only team that has looked consistently dominate. Teams 4 thru 14 are really interchangeable right now.
Crunch time
October is here. If we’re going to lose this year, it is going to happen in the next four games. We will be substantial favorites in all of them. The key is consistency. This is a down year for the Big 12. If we get up for our big games and play decently in the others, we’re going to go 12-0. Look at our schedule. Who on there qualifies as “very good?”
Bo will have this team playing at a championship level by the end of November. October is where our concern must be. K-State, Texas, Oklahoma State, Missouri. We’ve seen these teams play. We’ve seen our team play. We are a substantially better team than all of them. Play anywhere close to how we did at Washington, and we will beat them all by double digits. Play anything like we did against SDSU or Idaho, and we could lose to any of them.
In the long haul, last night’s game means nothing. It’s a 14 point win against a team we should’ve beaten by 50. Bad game. Fluke game. Everyone knows it. We didn’t luck out to win, we just looked really bad while doing it. All we know is what this team looks like when it plays flat. And it isn’t a pretty sight. There are a few schematic things for the coaches to work on, but mission #1 is making sure a let down like this never, ever happens again.
"My hardest job is to convince the people of Nebraska that 10-1 is not a losing season." - Tom Osborne
Bottom line...
I have a feeling this was the “letdown” game. Nebraska’s coming off a huge road win, and they’re heading into a bye. Take comfort in the fact that this team slept through an entire game and still won. Nebraska slept through the Iowa State game last year and lost.
Nebraska’s still 4-0 and after yesterday’s events the next 4 weeks don’t look nearly as daunting.

I think most of you are making a big deal out of nothing. Any one remember the 1994 game against Wyoming 42-32 victory against pass-happy Wyoming. or the 1997 game against Central Florida 38-24 followed buy a near disaster in Missouri. Even Tom Osborn lead teams had bad days, even some of his ( Osborn) best teams. Bo Is a great coach and will have the team ready to play against K-State Housecats.

beat FSU, Air Force, Utah State and Cinci
at the end of Season I think all 4 will be Ranked
Jeez……OU might be better than I gave them credit for.
I agree.
That being said, I wouldn’t be surprised if Texas knocked them off this week. I feel pretty confident Texas won’t lose to both OU and NU, though I can’t specify why – it just seems impossible that Texas could lose three in a row.

Gotta love the coaches poll...
They don’t have enough time nor do they have the attention span available to properly educate themselves before each vote.
Sometimes a win is a loss and a huge step back for a program, yet we move up. =)
Scary thought, the coaches poll is the relevant poll in the BCS…
