Stay connected for news and updates

The University of Nebraska currently has 42 former players on NFL rosters around the league.  Many of them shined on Sunday and here are some of the notable performances of the weekend:

Ndamukong Suh, DT (Detroit Lions) - Collected eight tackles, one sack and two tackles for loss.  Despite Suh's typical stellar performance, the Lions lost 35-32 to the Philadelphia Eagles.  His eight tackles led the team.

Kyle Vanden Bosch, DE (Detroit Lions) - Suh's partner in crime also had a big day, accounting for six tackles, 1.5 sacks and two tackles for loss.  He's still got it folks.

Zack Bowman, DB (Chicago Bears) - Led the Bears with 10 tackles, leading the team, in a 27-20 victory over the Dallas Cowboys.  Through two games Bowman is tied for the team high in tackles with 16 for the undefeated Bears.

Barrett Ruud, LB (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) - A typically great performance for Ruud, leading the team with nine tackles.  He has a team-high 13 tackles on the season for the 2-0 Bucs.

Chris Kelsay, OLB (Buffalo Bills) - Despite playing for the consistently awful Bills, Kelsay strung together eight tackles to also lead his team on Sunday.  Unfortunately the Bill lost 34-7, however Kelsay is tied for the team-lead with 15 tackles.

Correll Buckhalter, RB (Denver Broncos) - Scored on a 1-yard run early in the second quarter, giving the Broncos a two touchdown lead.

Brandon Jackson, RB (Green Bay Packers) - Also pounded home a touchdown on a 1-yard run to give the Packers a 13-0 lead in the first quarter.  Jackson led the team with 11 carries, rushing for 29 yards.

Adam Carriker, DT (Washington Redskins) - Had four tackles, including .5 sacks and one tackle for loss.

Richie Incognito, LG and Lydon Murtha, LT (Miami Dolphins) - Both contributed to a gutsy Miami Dolphins victory over the Minnesota Vikings.  Incognito started while Murtha filled in off the bench.

Matt Slauson, LG (NY Jets) - Started at left guard for the Jets, helping in a valuable victory over division rival New England.

On Tonight:  Look for former Huskers Carl Nicks, LG and Scott Shanle, OLB to star for the New Orleans Saints as they square off on Monday Night Football against the 49ers.

Great week for the Husker Alumni in the NFL, as four players led their team in tackles.  While most of the success came on the defensive side of the ball, look for Brandon Jackson's workload to increase with recent injuries to the Green Bay Packers backfield.  See you next week for another update on Huskers in the pros.
