Nebraska Post Game Celebration And Late Game Open Thread

It was not a good day for Jake Locker. His Heisman race ended today.

What a game!

The first real challenge of the year and the Huskers answer the call. We'll have a recap up later, but you can continue talking about the ass-kicking that was the Nebraska - Washington game!

There are some great games on tonight, so stick around for your late night game thread and see if Texas Tech can knock off Texas in Lubbock. Iowa at Arizona starts at 9:30 pm, so there's still plenty of game action left!!!!

Great game, Huskers.

Time for post game. My second favorite part of Saturday!!

Too many horses.

It should’ve been even worse, but for that head-scratching decision to put Cody in the game.

I really really hope we’re done seeing Green in the first half. Not just because of the turnover, but I think it’s just stupid. Martinez is our starter.

Overall great game. Should’ve been more along the lines of 63-7 but really it’s good to see us be so good that we can easily overcome those bonehead mistakes. (2 of those handed UW 2/3 of their points after all). And how about that running game? WOW.

Depending on what happens in Lubbock tonight

Nebraska could easily top Ubben’s Big 12 power rankings next week.

Lost it in Colorado

I missed the second half of the 4th quarter. Just after the Burkhead TD, ABC went to the Wiscy game. Anything interesting happen? They could have put the Huskers on ESPN2, but noooo, we had them on both.

Just read the threads at Burnt Orange Nation

Let me save you some time and sum it up for you:

1) Washington is the worst team in college football.
2) Taylor Martinez sucks. The Texas defense would rip him in two.
3) Nebraska’s defense is overrated. The only reason they even looked OK is because Jake Locker is even more overrated.

What a strange, strange world those people live in.

Maybe they'll wake up

When Tech beats them tonight. I actually think they will…Tuberville’s gonna have some surprises for Gilbert.

I don't think so

Texas has a ton of talent, and I think they’ll start to put it together tonight (at least enough to beat Tech).

by Cheeseandcorn on Sep 18, 2010 6:32 PM CDT up reply actions

They had better hope that's the case

It’s their only hope and they know it. They are grasping at straws. The real Texas would want NU to be at full strength, to make their assumed victory all the more sweet.

They know deep down they have issues, they know NU wants them, they know they’ll probably lose.

Speaking of grades:

I give the offense an A-, and the D an A.

by redvalley on Sep 18, 2010 6:12 PM CDT reply actions

I can't give the defense an A on a day when they gave up 21 points.

I know one TD was on an 8-yard drive, but we’ve seen much better out of them.

by Cheeseandcorn on Sep 18, 2010 6:13 PM CDT up reply actions

Stand corrected,

That was too high, and as Bo would say, they had too many “bonehead” mistakes, but I do think Locker is a better QB than the defense allowed him to look.

by redvalley on Sep 18, 2010 6:18 PM CDT up reply actions

We'd almost have the separate the defense.

D-line: a solid A.

Linebackers: rough start, a B.

Secondary: B-. Prince got beat soundly on the double move and the holding call on the INT was dumb.

Offense: A+. Cody Green needs to hold onto the damn ball, otherwise great.

@GochFaceKiller on Twitter

by Screwface on Sep 18, 2010 6:23 PM CDT via mobile up reply actions

I still think that TD pass wasn't Prince's fault

He was releasing him to the safety, like he was supposed to. But the safety (I forget who it was) had bitten on the run, too.

56 to 21

And you people are complaining about anything?

Sure this was with mistakes, but still it was 56 to 21. They cut to another game to shield small children from the horror.

This was the “test” a lot of people thought it was going to be close, Heisman QB hopeful completed 4 passes, in the game. Read that again, 4 in the game. This was not an option team BTW, they threw 20 passes.

Taylor was making his first road start, the stadium was shaking, and he delivered, and when he didn’t he got back up like it was nothing. How can you not be impressed with that?

But seriously that Watson guy has to go.

NU scores an A for this game in all aspects.

was AWFUL,,,,,I think this might be the worst Big 12 showing ever.
Luckily Nebraska is stepping up. OU, Texas, A&M, Tech all look mediocre. Misery, KU, KSU, CO, ISU all BAD!!

we gotta watch out for these BAD teams.

Oklahoma State might be good?

Locker

If we don’t blow that coverage on Locker’s TD pass he is:

3/20 for 26 yards, 0TD and 2 INT

Kept penalties down and turnovers to a minimum and we were just fine.

Of course, people will just say “Well, they were only Washington after all. Nebraska won’t play anyone good until Texas.”

KSU

I’m not as worried about KSU as I was a week ago. I still think they are the 2nd/3rd best team in the north and if we have an Achilles Heal it is our run defense. But for as poorly as KSU passes, we should be able to commit enough to contain Daniel Thomas.

Okay, half-time

Was reading Mitch Sherman’s (World-Herald) column, and got a few chuckles. Here’s some exerpts:
“Expect a low-scoring game”.
“Don’t under-estimate Washington. Sure, Nebraska looks stronger on paper…but these games tend to get sloppy and stay close.”

My visit to the UT house

was rewarding…he had a home made bottle of Absinthe…..taste not great….the affects are wonderful.

Am I hallucinating or did the HUSKERS kick the CRAP out the Washington!

Texas boy needs the absinthe for the season they are in for :)

those

aren’t mutually exclusive… you could be hallucinating while Nebraska kicked the crap out of Washington.

Terrible call by the officials. Good overturn. Iowa’s gonna make this a game.

Disastrous day for the Pac 10 if they do.

USC being played within 11 by the 2nd worst Big Six team in the country. UW getting their asses kicked. Oregon State barely beating a terrible Louisville team. WSU lost…of course. Arizona blowing a 20 point second half lead would just be terrible.

Stanford and Oregon are the class of this league…..by a mile. Hell there might be a mile between Oregon and Stanford and its obvious Stanford is easily better than any of the other 8 teams.
