The AP Preseason Poll was released this morning. Nebraska is ranked eighth while Texas is fifth and Oklahoma seventh.

Texas above Oklahoma? Whatever. Unfortunately, with the state of crappy non-conference games being the norm now days, it'll take weeks before that's corrected.

OU's line stinks

It might have something to do with the fact that OU’s awful offensive line caused them to lose 5 games last season and they should be worse this season after losing Trent Williams to the draft.

The best team the Sooners beat without Bradford last year was Stanford, and Stanford didn’t have Andrew Luck for that game.

I am pleased to NU get this much attention and love, but

I hope we don’t fall back to earth with a thud. I am sure Bo is keeping everyone level and working them hard. But an awful lot of this seems based purely on some optimistic views of potential. Our offense was really, truly mediocre, at best, last year, and we’ll need to be a lot better on that side of the ball to justify a top 10 ranking — while maintaining our truly outstanding defensive performance. I’d much rather we went into the season being underrated and attacked for our weak offense, ranked 18 to 25, and storm into the top 10 by Oct/Nov than start out with this target. I think it’ll be a big test of Bo’s coaching and motivational talents.

Replayed the Holiday Bowl

And prior to that game I swear it said that we were ranked #24. Seems a bit odd…the preseason rankings in 2010.

Nebraska was 22 and Arizona was 20. After the drumming Nebraska moved to 14 in the final poll.

Prognosticators see this years schedule as easier, easier schedule = more wins, hence the higher ranking.

[Osborne's] school has this ultimatum from Texas to either spit or get off the pot. Commit to the Big 12, Texas is saying, or we'll take this Pac-10 offer, rake in more cash and kiss the Big 12 goodbye. It's on you, Nebraska. Texas is good at this sort of thing -- it could blame Cadillac for those Toyota brake problems and get away with it. - Dennis Dodd
