What to Expect from Dontrayevous Robinson

When you look at the 6-1 230lb Dontrayevous Robinson, you think of one thing and one thing only power. When you watch him run it reminds you of the old Power-I days. When he has seen playing time he has looked productive but somewhat raw. The best example of this was the Iowa State game where he had 77 yard on 15 carries and one touchdown. However he also had a crucial fumble that cost the Huskers the game.

Robinson's biggest road block to playing time may be fellow sophomore Rex Burkhead. The development of Rex will hold the key to Robinson's future as Rex seems entrenched ahead of him on the depth chart. What do you think? Will Robinson make a push for more playing time or will Rex develop and keep him on the sideline?

Robinson in a mop up role

I don’t see Robinson playing too much when the game is on the line this season. I think by the end of the season Burkhead will be the feature back, Helu will get his carries as well. Robinson will see plenty of time against Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State. By this time next year, Burkhead and an academically qualified Braylon Heard will carry the load.

They won't be in the same roles

I see Robinson filling more of a Cody Glenn/Quentin Castille role. Getting his carries on 2nd and 3rd and short, goal line situations, and late in the game as a change of pace back to batter tired linebackers in the 4th quarter.

Do I think he’ll ever be the #1 guy on the depth chart? Maybe not—but that doesn’t mean he won’t see some carries.

Dudes!

Robinson plays a huge role this season because he’s an experienced third back. Helu hasn’t gone through a season yet without missing time due to injury. Same with Burkhead (even though it’s only one).

Robinson may be key to a huge season.

He'll Play a Lot

I agree w/ Jon. Either Helu or Burkhead or both will get injured unfortunately and we will need Robinson possibly starting before its over. He looks exciting; could be a great addition. We’ll probably need Lester Ward and who knows who else before its over.

Pretty harsh

to say that he cost the Huskers the ISU game; there were 7 other TOs. He’s a good back and I expect to see him plenty. Remember the wildcat in the Holiday Bowl? I think we’ll see DTR, Rex, and Martinez run that a few times.

Hadoken!!

Based on WKU...

…he’s going to need to pick his game up because Burkhead and Helu both played significantly better than Robinson…
