If the Big 12 Were A Ship, Would She Be Titanic?
The use of an analogy is such a common way to make a point. Those making the point should also be careful as to what they reference.
Take this one, for example:
“Texas isn’t just the anchor for the Big 12,” our source said, “it’s the whole damn ship. Texas and OU, really, are the whole ship. Everybody else is just along for the ride.”
Whoooeeee! And what ship might they be thinking of?
This one, perhaps?
I suppose it could have been worse.... some fool in Texas might be tempted to say that the Big 12 was like a really really fast race car, with Texas doing the driving:

What are they worried about then?
If they are the whole ship, then they can afford to lose the other 10 teams and the conference will be fine right?
I just listened to 103.3 in Dallas and that Chip Brown guy was on
Kinda blew me away. All this is straight out of his mouth.
1st, the Big Ten has stopped talking to any other candidates and right now is strictly talking to ND. Appartently, ND has stipulated that if they come along, Big Ten expansion will end with them. So if ND is in, the Big Ten is done with us and Missou.
2nd, apparently, the NU and UT admin are actually quite close, “confidantes” he said, and the “staying in the Big XII in Neb stays” is primarily based on that. Granted, we are kind of a big deal too, but I guess UT trusts us, and no, I am not pooping you.
3rd, Pac 10 is OK with Baylor and UT is indifferent to Baylor’s inclusion and not going to get in their way.
So all in all, if ND goes go Big Ten, it all ends, except for maybe CU.
Sorry no link, but I am sure this will be up on 1033espn.com soon.
Chip Brown also reported the following last night...
Kudos to @redraidersports for pointing out Tom Osborne not enamored with direction of pass-happy fball in B12 and prefers down-dirty B10.

So I called him on that
The more I read from @ChipBrownOB , the less credible he becomes. NU is switching conferences because of the spread offense?!?!?

So did Omaha sports talk host (and Westwood One PxP announcer Kevin Kugler)
It’s officially getting silly. TO will blow up the Big 12 because he hates the spread? Um, no.

Chip responded claiming it wasn’t his statement, but rather his retweet from the Texas Tech Rivals site.
@Husker_Mike The stuff on Osborne preferring football styles in the B10 was something I retweeted from @redraidersports. Thanks.

There is no mention of this at http://twitter.com/redraidersports
Chip was a respected reporter when he was at the Dallas Morning News. But right now, he seems to be performing the role Jim Rose used to perform for Steve Pederson at Nebraska.
It's pretty curious...
Hasn’t most of “breaking” news in this story come from this guy? Like the “ultimatum” Osborne wasn’t aware of?
BTW, I enjoyed reading this article last night.
Chip Brown was the Adam Schefter of college football before OrangeBloods became his baby. He is kind of a hack now, actually.
Has anyone read the “Tom Osborne Hates UT, and That Is The Only Reason For Them Wanting To Leave For The Big 10” article written by some bonehead at OrangeBloods? It’s hilarious!
Hang 'em!!!
