I am not a college football guru I blog some with fellow fans and enjoy reading the posts. It is a really good way to get the perspective from the other side. But, I was recently down in OKC and visiting with Sooner fans and they are all about the Big XII, since it was saved, and I was told that Texas wasn't going to make a move with out the support of Oklahoma, "Texas needs Oklahoma" was the exact words that I heard from some OU fans. After hearing that I thought on it a while and have come to the conclusion that I believe they are wrong. Texas could care less about OU. If Texas could have made more money by dropping the Sooners from their schedule it would have happened and Texas wouldn't have thought twice. Granted, I wasn't at the meeting of UT's board of regents but I will venture to guess in that meeting the words, "we need Oklahoma" or "if Oklahoma isn't on board then we can't ....." those words were probably never said. Now that being said Oklahoma does have a tons to offer a conference football, basketball is pretty good, and the baseball team is in the CWS. Not to mention the women's basketball program or academics!!! My advise to the Sooners is on the surface smile and be happy but behind the seens you better be looking out for yourselves. Drop Texas like a bad habit cause if they get the chance they will leave you holding the bag. Through all this expansion talk not much was said about the SEC except in the case of A&M, who was also looking to get out from under the Longhorn's thumb. Lets face it Texas has the biggest stick and THEY WILL HIT YOU WITH IT IF YOU STEP OUT OF LINE!!!!!! My advice is beat A&M to the punch and try to get in the SEC. Your money will be great and your recruiting, while already outstanding, will only get better. Plus, NO TEXAS to have to answer to. Texas is going to look out for Texas and if the Big XII isn't in their best interest what happens to the mighty Sooners?????????
