2010 Nebraska Football Red-White Spring Game Preview

Saturday, April 17 - 1:00 PM

Television: None

Internet: Huskers.com - Audio , Live Stats

Today is the 2010 Husker Football Red-White spring game. Fake football and a scrimmage it might be, but it's the closest thing to football we'll get for the next few months, so make the most of it.

Star-divide

Missing Today:

There's a whole gob of players missing today, including three probable offensive line starters, Ricky Henry, Jermarcus Hardrick, and Mike Smith. Linebackers Matt Holt, Mathew May, and defensive backs Lance Thorell and Justin Blatchford are out as well.

Zac Lee is out recovering from surgery, while Khiry Cooper and the baseball team are hoping they get their first Big 12 series win this season after winning the first game against Kansas last night, 11-7.

The complete list and rosters are at the end of the article.

Red vs White

There were no surprises this year in the "For What Will We Cheer" poll - Husker fans want to see good quarterback play. They will see a Cody Green vs Taylor Martinez matchup, as the two will lead the white and red squads, respectively. Don't forget Kody Spano, however. He's been off the radar for a while due to injury, but given that the playcalling will be mostly vanilla, may not have that great advantage over the other two.

The White team appears to have the advantage on the defensive line as they have Jared Crick, Terrence Moore, Pierre Allen, and Jason Ankrah.  White's offense has Green, Roy Helu, Mike McNeil, Niles Paul and Antonio Bell

Red's offense gets Martines, Rex Burkhead, Brandon Kinnie, and Curresnki Gillylen, while the defense has Prince Amukamara and Eric Hagg in the backfield.

The matchups will be made even more interesting by the missing offensive linemen, but, hey, that just gives some young guys a chance to show their stuff, eh?

egad....

Pelini has mixed up the uniforms…… so all the defensive players are wearing red pants, and all the offensive players are wearing white pants.

or maybe it’s the other way around…..
