NCAA Championships: Huskers to face Wildcats in Sweet 16
We'll do a double thread here today, as both the women and the men see action.

Nebraska is taking on Kentucky Sunday in the late game around 9:07pm. The Huskers will be looking for the school's first Elite Eight appearance tonight against a 4th seed Kentucky squad. The Wildcats are 27-7 on the year, losing 5 games in the SEC alone. Should be a ton of red in Kansas City tonight to cheer on Coach Yori's Cornhuskers, who are also looking to become the NCAA's all-time most improved team. Tune in to ESPN for the action!
Don't forget, voting is still open for the Women's Naismith Award. Get your vote in for Kelsey Griffin. There are two Uconn players on the ballot, so Husky fans will have to split their votes...which helps. Fans can vote once per day, so click here to find out how to cast your ballot.
(Men's update after jump...)
Kansas State goes down, as does Kentucky. TheOhio State upset just didn't seem all that surprising to me. Maybe because the Buckeye's were a quiet top ten team this year. Much like the Duke Blue Devils. Anyway, Duke is the only #1 seed left. What a crazy tournament...
We are down to just 8 teams. Here are the current CornNation Bracket standings:
That's it for now. Let's jump on here for the womens' game!
GO HUSKERS!

Butler moves on...
Good for them, although I’d like to see a B12 north team winning…

This effort by the Husker women is embarrassing.
Incredible season and all, etc., etc., but this is about as terrible an ending as I can imagine.
Nice comeback at the end...
…but Kentucky nearly ran the Huskers out of the barn.

Yeah, apparently they played pretty well after I went to bed
But through the first 30 minutes, it was easily the worst effort of the season. They just looked sluggish.

Damn
What a letdown. Not in a bad way, but it just sucks that they didn’t play the way we all know they could. Their legs just didn’t look fresh, and the defense was half-ass.
Kelsey looked flustered and tired to me. It’s more than just Kelsey, I know. But your team goes as your star goes…and she looked worn out.
Doesn’t matter though. I watched UCONN over the wekend, and they would have killed any team that played them, including us.

Agreed.
I was looking forward to the UCONN-ISU game as sort of a measuring stick for us (not like it matters now). 74-36…jeez. To quote my psych professor today, they might lose if they have a massive bus crash.

"Burned Out" Is What I'm Thinking
Considering the fact that this team has never gone this deep into the post-season and with all the hype surrounding them with the win streak and the high ranking, you have to wonder if it all finally caught up with them Sunday night?
Very seldom do you see a Connie Yori coached team get out-hustled, especially this year’s squad. But I’m starting to think more and more that the girls might have physically and/or mentally hit the wall.
