2010 Nebraska Football Walk-Ons

From the Nebraska release, here's your official 2010 list of walk-ons. We at CN wish them the best of luck.

The following student-athletes have accepted admission to the University of Nebraska and plan to join the Husker football program as walk-ons in the fall.

Name Pos. Ht. Wt. Hometown High School
Josh Bart DB 6-1 170 Aurora Neb. Aurora HS
Jason Dann PK/P 6-0 170 Richardson Texas Lake Highlands HS
Joey Felici DB 5-9 165 Omaha Neb. Millard South HS
Derek Foster DB 5-11 175 Elm Creek Neb. Elm Creek HS
Andy Gdowski DE 6-3 235 Grand Island Neb. Grand Island HS
Keegan Hughes WR 6-1 175 Roswell Ga. Roswell HS
Tyson McGill LB/FB 6-1 225 Norfolk Neb. Norfolk HS
JC Moore DE 6-3 240 Fremont Neb. Fremont HS
Mark Pelini OL 6-1 290 Youngstown Ohio Cardinal Mooney HS
Trevor Roach LB/RB 6-3 230 Elkhorn Neb. Elkhorn HS
Dillon Schrodt WR 6-2 175 Lincoln Neb. North Star HS
Zach Taylor RB 6-0 195 Lincoln Neb. Southeast HS
Jeff Uher DL/OL 6-2 270 Omaha Neb. Creighton Prep HS
Yusef Wade DB/RB 5-10 170 Lincoln Neb. North Star HS
Austin Williams DB 6-2 190 Omaha Neb. Burke HS
Tyler Wullenwaber WR 6-1 180 Utica Neb. Centennial HS

Star-divide

Three walk-ons join the program from out of state:

  • Mark Pelini - from Youngstown, OH. 6-1, 290, comes in as an offensive lineman. High school is Cardinal Mooney, the same school that produced Husker recruit Braylon Heard. Pelini is... obviously related to the Pelini coaches, being the nephew of Bo and Carl Pelini.
  • Keegan Hughes - from Roswell, GA. 6-1, 175, comes in as a wide receiver. Turned down a scholarship offer from the Air Force to walk on at Nebraska.
  • Jason Dann - from Richardson, TX (Lake Highlands HS). 6-0, 175, comes in as a placekicker. Not uncommon to see kickers come in as walk-ons. Interesting thing about Dann - 40% of his kickoffs were into the end zone for touchbacks. That should improve as college-level strength training takes over.

As for the Nebraska walk-ons, I'm sure some of you have seen them play. The ones that interest me most are:

  • Dillon Schrodt, 6-2, 175, wide receiver from North Star High School in Lincoln.
  • Joey Felici, 5-9, 165, defensive back, son of Tony Felici from Millard South in Omaha
  • Austin Williams, 6-2, 190, defensive back, from Burke High School in Omaha.

Please feel free to give us some comments about these guys.

Not the

flashy class that everyone likes to see but hopefully it is they type of players that will fit Bo’s system. Just wondering, why did the Portland Oregon DE decide on UCLA, wish we could have landed that one. I was glad to see Frazier’s cousin sign on though. I like the walk-ons but I don’t believe their were any eight or six man guys on there, a little disappointing, just hope they are not missing out on a Terry Conneally or a Mackovica type player. Recruiting hype over now lets get to the spring game.
