2010 National Signing Day Recruiting Coverage Thread

Welcome to 2010 Signing Day Coverage. I confess that I will not be staying home to monitor what's happening, nor will I be doing live updates as the new guys sign and fax in their letters of intent.

After the jump is a complete list of the expected 2010 recruits, along with links to profiles. I'll be back later in the day to update some things, but feel free to comment as the day progresses.

There are three guys still up in the air - Brion Carnes, Corey Cooper, and Owamagbe Odighizuwa. Rumor already has it (and let's face it, it's rumor until we hear from the Husker Athletic Department, which we will at 2:30 pm) that Cooper is signing with Nebraska.

aaaaaghhhh

finally got the html working correctly, but there’s the list.

note anything that needs updated, or errors, and since I screwed up the html and had to redo it, there’s probably a few in there.

We’ll keep it as it’s own page later.

And thanks for commenting!

Brion Carnes

I try not to put a lot of stock in recruiting, but I am NOT excited about how the Carnes dilemma played out. Going to Western Kentucky until the day he signs? What does this say about his character when he lets these rumors fly about without saying anything to the school that is going to be left in the dark? It just leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

by VarangianGuard on Feb 3, 2010 9:37 AM CST reply actions

It's hard

He was going to South Florida. Coach gets fired- he starts to look around. NU signs a huge QB recruit for next year- his high school coaches were pushing him towards WKY- he has to live up to being the next Tommy Frazier- I don’t think he wanted or asked for all this drama, I think it was forced upon him by the recruiting sites, and well fans like me (to a lesser extent)

I’m glad he decided to some here. QB depth is a great thing to have, he has talents, and the staff wanted him.

And when was the last time NU got a last sec change of heart?

Even if we lose on Owa

(I’m hearing bad rumors, but I was with Carnes as well) this has been a great late season push.

So much for Bo not being able to recruit. I think he’s still figuring it out, but the last push really makes me feel better about the future of recruiting. (That QB out of Texas does as well…)

yeah

but I suppose part of that can be blamed on how closely everything gets reported these days, can’t it?

In defense of the guy, maybe he did switch back and forth a few times. Maybe he thought about playing time at Western Kentucky vs Nebraska, and the amount of pressure he’ll face being both a Husker and “Tommie Frazier’s cousin” at the same time.

I guess we’ll find out how he handles the spotlight. Hopefully, he’ll redshirt, and spend a year growing up on the scout team before he gets exposed to the fan base. :)

after being told they are the greatest thing on Earth, once they sign, they become freshman that haven’t proven a thing. There is an analogy to marriage in there somewhere….

What did Mr. Carnes tell the NU coaches?

The coaches can’t say anything, so all of the rumors and innuendo you’ve heard in recent days are from the services and reporters, and Mr. Carnes might have been playing a game there. He very well could have told the people that matter what he was doing, and the people who really have no business being involved got sent on a wild goose chase.

by Husker Mike on Feb 3, 2010 10:09 AM CST up reply actions

btw

I did spend last Saturday night talking to Jeff Sims, the Fort Scott CC coach. He told me the same thing about Hardrick that he told Steve Sipple – that Hardrick is the “meanest player he’s ever coached”.

Also told me some stuff about Lavonte David that I’ll talk about after today….. after all the signing is done.

Immediate Impact

more on Hardrick – I think he may be the only player that could have an immediate impact this year. He’ll be on campus for spring ball, and that will give him a huge advantage in learning what’s going on.

Guys who show up in the fall will be struggling to get accustomed to being in Lincoln while at the same time be expected to learn the offense and defense.

Special teams might be a whole different story…..

I was hoping that orange shirt was a nod to the home team!

At least you guys don’t play against him every year! Wish one of us would have pulled him. Too bad, good luck to the kid against every team in the PAC 10 except the well dressed boys in orange.

Went to

two and a half proms, actually. And outside of the band at the one my junior year and having to embarrass myself as a freshman entertainer, nothing memorable.

I am sick, sick, sick of all this recruiting crap! I won’t go back over my soapbox from my post a few days ago. You know me — I’m right!!!!
