OU or NU -- Who Are You Rooting For?
Perhaps one of the most beautiful things about this week is the angst the game is causing for Texas fans.
Who do they root for - their most hated rival, or the one that's decided that's leaving them for a better choice?

It’s the holiday season. There’s a nip in the air. We’ve got a Championship game to play. Our rival to play against. Respectful fans of said rival sharing memories of old battles with our fans, and both serious and humorous predictions of the game. Life is good.
So, why the [bleeping] hell do we OR any self-respecting Sooner care what Texas thinks?
We don't really care what they think.
We just enjoy the fact that this is the closest they’ll get to the 2010 Big 12 Championship Game. In other words, what Go Big Rev (and Nelson Muntz) said.

The pain is awesome
It’s awesome to watch the pain as they try to explain why they are rooting for OU.
Yeah it is.
They are so torn as what to think. Beautiful haha.

Interesting
OU is winning in the comments about 90-10, while it only leads in the actual poll 57-42. Silent minority? Or Jon’s linkage causing Husker fans to stuff the box?
I’m still a bit puzzled by the vitriol against Pelini by opposing teams. Yeah, he can get a bit out of control sometimes, but really, that’s all they have to bitch about. He’s not running a dirty program, he painstakingly avoids running up the score on people, particularly conference opponents. Is it just the fact that he’s resurrected a hated rival?
"My hardest job is to convince the people of Nebraska that 10-1 is not a losing season." - Tom Osborne
I've wondered about that too.
There’s nothing dirty about anything he’s said or done in his three years at NU – he’s run an entirely clean, honest program. But that apparently doesn’t matter to opposing fans – they hate him solely because he gets angry.
That’s a good reason to laugh at an opposing coach, but a pretty silly reason to hate one with a passion, especially when his anger has never been directed at opposing teams. I’d chalk it up to a heaping helping of hypocrisy, topped with a sprinkling of bitterness about him resurrecting a rival and then leaving for (let’s face it) greener pastures.

As a Sooner fan I couldn't be happier.
The Texas fans are in anguish having to watch the two historically preeminent programs in the conference playing for the title. The Sooners and the Huskers are in their rightful place…and so are the Longhorns!!! That’s right, I said it Horns fans, in the grand history of college football Texas is below both OU and Nebraska. So, it is fitting that the last title game of the Big XII will include the top two programs in the conference.
That said, I hate to see the Huskers leave. I love the OU/NU rivalry. I hate to even call it a rivalry because I, and I believe most Sooner fans, actually like Nebraska. There have been many great games between these teams and a great deal of respect. It’s completely different than the OU/Texas or OU/OSU rivalries. We flat don’t like Texas and OSU is like a whiny little brother that you want to kick around just to get him to shut up.
Here’s hoping for a good game (of course I hope OU wins), a great many tears from the eyes of Horns fans, and an OU/NU BCS title game next year!
Same to you
I always liked Oklahoma, to me it was the classiest rivalry in football. We each wanted (and want) to beat each other, but we both know the others fans know the game of football, and can be counted on to be respectful. Aside from a few hiccups here and there.
Keep beating Texas for us, because we never could.
I'm also a fan
of the NY Giants, while I have friends that are Cowboy fans. This reminds me a lot of the build-up to Super Bowl 42 when they couldn’t decide which was worse – rooting for a conference rival or The Pats cheating their way into history. It was a great debate to watch. I’m just glad to be in this position, rooting for a team that plays for the title, and not wishing for a meteor.
