PrintWell, Cyclone fans will have to question Paul Rhodes decision to run a fake at the end of overtime, but it was a gutsy call to try and end it right there. Thankfully, Eric Hagg made the play to seal a victory.
What a relief. Nebraska plays their third string quarterback and survives that, in addition to a horrible decision by Niles Paul to bring the ball deep out of the end zone that turned into a disaster.
So let's start the postgame thread to count our blessings and give a sigh of relief.

Am I the only one who really liked Rhoads' call on the last play?
If you just go for one, you go into the second OT without the advantage of playing on defense first. You have a QB you can’t quite trust not to turn the ball over, playing against the top secondary in the country, and with a much worse kicker than your opponent, too.
Just win it right there, before you lose all of your advantages.
plus, how can you question a guy
who led ISU to a bowl win in his first year, and looks like he’ll be in one against next year?

Niles tried to give the game to Iowa State again
Jesus our offense looked like last years. Afraid to do anything other than run the ball right or left. Taylor Martinez at 50% is better than Cody Green. He threw for 5 tds and a ton against a very good OK State team who stomped Baylor today. Should have just played him and not ran him as much at least we would have had a passing threat. Oh well we won but my god it was ugly.

Is Green really that slow too?
I’m not trying to rip Green but I thought this guy was supposed to be a stud dual threat. His runs looked awful and not to mention the fumbles… I will give him credit for that long pass lay that got us near the goal line but that is it.

really didn’t show me anything today. Watching what Lee can do I think we know why Lee is #2. I was worried about Green leaving the program, but now I don’t know if he’ll even sniff the field again. Burkhead looks like a better #2/3 right now. It’s not like they let Green try and do anything with the ball.

He had a fumble.
But he didn’t really make any plays. 1 or 2 pass plays and that was it. He looked slow running, and slow on the fake. Burkhead ran the zone read better, and it didn’t look like the coaches were comfortable opening the playbook with Green.

Lees runs at least look average. He reads the defense ok too on the zone read play and doesn’t fumble.
I will say this,
When I found out that neither Martinez or Lee would play, (I Know T-Mart got in once or twice)
the stomach acids really started flowing.

This game felt just like the 1999 Texas game. Which ever team had the wind was the team that could accomplish something on offense. I hate these games where the wind is such a factor.

How explosive is this offense? It’s a multiple attack that works, but doesn’t work so well when down the the #3 QB. Name any other team that can win when so depleted.

The kid can be out-right genius. The kid can be out-right bad. But, he’s still that…a young man working his butt off for four years for this University. I thank him for that. And all of you who have lived mistake-free lives, feel free to criticize him. I don’t fall in that category.

I was so angry.
You could tell he thought about it and went against his better judgement. It’s one of those moments when you’re teaching your children not to stick a penny in a light socket, but they do and they shock themselves. In the past I was lucky to make it to one game a year ( I was in the army for seven years), and those happen to be the ones I made it to.

I was at that game too! First game my dad took me to.
It was amazing. Surrounded by Nebraska fans and I’m pretty sure we were louder than the Iowa State fans. When Hagg got that interception in overtime we all just exploded. It was electric. We were actually sitting (standing) next to some fans that were from Serbia and they knew more about it than I did. It was just a great feeling that there are Husker fans liteary all around the world.

I was at Jack Trice today
The Husker fans around me didn’t even cheer when Hagg picked off that last pass. We just stood there shellshocked with the ISU fans. What a day though. Going from COMPLETELY deserving to lose a game to basically having the North sealed with Mizzou’s epic choke tonight. My heart rate still isn’t back to normal.
