Carl Pelini Apologizes For Breaking That Dude's Camera And Lying About It
Carl Pelini finally came forward and apologized for breaking that Texags dude's camera....
I made a poor decision in trying to prevent a reporter from recording the scene.......
And lying about it.
Unfortunately, Bo did not have all the facts prior to yesterday's press conference and wasn't fully prepared for the question.....
Okay, I feel good. You should feel good. Texas A&M fans should feel good (with the exception of everybody on both sides who still wants to ride their high horse, stay in their towers, stare down their noses, you know, all those SOB's who live on Respectable Street).
Carl's apology comes just in time. Why? Because it's Tuesday afternoon, dammit. We have a Cobs article coming, and then
ITS TIME TO HATE THOSE ROTTEN HIPPIE BASTARDS FROM BOULDER FOR THE LAST TIME!!!!!

Meanwhile Ben Cotton is still waiting on an apology from Tony Jerod-Edie. Sources say he's pinched for time.
Couldn’t resist…
I don't think it should hurt his reputation of always coming through...
… in a pinch.

I've posted this before
But I just keep thinking about this every time I think of Tony Jerod-Eddie.

I am glad that he apologized.
If he was asked to sit out for the CU game, that probably wouldn’t be a bad idea.
BRING ON THE HIPPY HATE
Seriously. Let’s revel in it for one last week as it’ll be awhile before CU plays a school where the coach kept us from winning an undisputed national championship by voting against us even though his undefeated team got worked over that year by the Buffs – at home. It’ll also be awhile before we play a school and end their reign as a powerhouse by beating them 62-36 as they miraculously head to the national championship game as a joke with a joke of a heismann.
Though we can love to hate each other this week, let’s also hope for a good game with no serious injuries. Good luck in the Big 10, y’all. Hope to see you guys in a bowl game one day.
If that new rivalry with Utah
doesn’t suit you, as a current member of the Pac-10 and a UW alum, I have been authorized to give you Washington State. They might be more your speed — and we already have them trained to hate hippies!
Whipping boy
Can’t wait for the Big Ten boys to knock the crap out of you. No more CU
Kansas, KState, I State. Maybe a few victories over Minn. ha, ha, ha
WE
can’t wait to not care how you fair in your new conference as we won’t be watching. Because we have never cared about CU. Rivalry? HA! In your dreams. Now, why don’t you go search your couch cushions so you can help donate to your joke athletic department so you can get them out of hock?!?
You're right
Sorry we choose to donate money to academics and build world-class research labs. Silly CU grads, having our priorities all mixed up.
Have fun doing nothing until next football season in NE. Maybe you can get to CO and have some fun in the meantime.

LOL
The only reason your “championship” team was even in consideration for the title is that one of the worst officiating mistakes in football history stole a win from Missouri and made your two-loss team a one-loss team on paper.
Yet you think it’s unfair that your two-loss, paper contenders had to share a title with an undefeated Georgia Tech team?
Not sure how this changes anything...
But the latest rumor is that Carl, after knocking the camera out of his hand, de-pants’d the guy and proceeded to shove the camera up his ass.
Of course, that is unconfirmed at this point.
Embarrassing for the Pelinis
They thought they could get away with the “trying to help a player” story, and then once the photos came out, they knew the jig was up.
As a journalist, I’ve got to say that what Carl did pisses me off and strikes me as far more unprofessional and out of line than anything Bo did. I think a suspension would have been more appropriate than a mere apology.

I always appreciate your take on things, Cac.
It struck me as an incredibly dumb move when word first started to leak about it, and even moreso now that B. Pelini lied to cover it up. I agree that going after a camera man this way is MUCH worse than B. Pelini going ballistic about every penalty. I even have less of a problem with Legarrette Blunt cold-cocking the trash talking Boise State guy last year than with this. If C. Pelini gets away from this with only having had to issue an apology, he should consider himself VERY lucky.

Agreed. (And thanks.)
You just don’t try to take/break other people’s stuff, period. And when it happens to a reporter/videographer, my anger about it increases exponentially. There’s no quicker way to turn every reporter you’ve ever worked with against you for life than to try to grab one of their notebooks or tape recorders. And grabbing some guy’s video camera is no different.

Pretty tough week for the Brothers Pelini
with Bo po’ing game officials and Carl po’ing journalists. Good grief.
Does anyone know what Osborne’s involment has been (such as a sit-down with Bo)? I can’t imagine this is sitting too well with him.
Granted, I don't know what down it is..
We know Osborne has talked to Pelini about it
But we don’t really know what was said. He also released a typically mellow statement that many people interpreted as a strong one to Bo to calm the hell down.

Agreed.
Actually, I do believe that Carl’s statement that he lied to his brother and that Bo was saying what Carl told him when he was relaying his brother’s side of the story. That sort of stuff happens all the time.
But yeah, that was pretty bad of Carl, and I agree, it was worse than Bo’s antics.
Yeah.
Remember that time when an entire section of the stadium was cleared out because of terrible behavior in Lincoln? Wait…..
We have no idea what led to Carl’s reaction. Carl just wanted to put this behind him, regardless of what actually may have happened.

Not sure how much more of
this behavior I can handle. This is not the behavior I want in a coach. For that matter.
I dont really care for the behavior of 20-30% of football players across the board.
Its seems like a police blotter these days. Maybe it always was?
Oh to dream…. Turner Gill and the Fightin Pelini’s on our side line.
I would like to see Gill as the Stoic face of the team.
Crazy Mad-Hatter Pelini’s running the D.
I really dont see a future going down this road unless they can get their $#!) together.
I'm not sure the behavior of players has anything to do with this
Especially since Nebraska’s players have been among the best-behaved of any big-time football program since Bo’s been here (I’m not really going to count the whole Andy Christensen fiasco, which happened before Bo had even coached a day of practice).

Police blotter?
I’m sure I’m missing some, but the only high-profile incidents I remember since Pelini arrived were the Carl Nicks house party (Nicks didn’t even play for Pelini), the Niles Paul DUI and MIP, the Andy Christensen sexual assault case (acquitted), and whatever Ben Cotton, Cody Glenn, and Quentin Castille did. These are/were embarrassing, sure, but overall it’s much cleaner than it was in the 1990s.
Nebraska’s not perfect, but in the last 15 years I don’t remember a single NCAA violation that had any significant effect on the program. Consider recent incidents at some other big-time programs…
—USC (major violations)
—Auburn (ongoing FBI investigation and probably impending major violations)
—Oregon (starting QB kicked off the team in June)
—Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Miami, Georgia (player-agent contact)
—Michigan (minor violations, but they were relatively-high profile)
—Florida State (academic fraud)
—Alabama (probation)
—Texas A&M (Franchione’s booster newsletter)
Reporter: "What would it take to get you to spend three or four days outside, on concrete?"
Joe Paterno: "Depends what she looks like."
are you freaking kidding me?
Texas A&M (Franchione’s booster newsletter)
That wasn’t even a blip on the NCAA’s radar, with good reason.
A player getting a DUI is a bigger deal than that; it only made the news b/c it gave A&M the leverage it needed to fire him, b/c it was technically a minor NCAA violation, which was enough to void his contract.
And let's be honest
Fran’s booster newsletter is old news by now anyway – happened several years ago now. If you’ve got to reach back that far for an incident, there’s probably not much there. As for the rest of the schools on the list, though, yeah – lot of scuzziness going on there.

Guts!
You are a man with some cojones! I have read some of your former posts so I am not surprised to hear your voice so bravely.
at least he came out, admitted he was an idiot, he screwed up, and apologized
Carl manned up and admitted what he did, and said he was sorry.
If he is suspended for a game or not is irrelevant, his apology was apparently good enough for Brandon.
I am told Osborne also called and apologized to Brandon.
I would consider that matter closed.
I'm ready to let this one go.
For all the lousy officiating and the pile-pinching, it was a fairly clean game by the players – very little shoving/trash-talking, etc. Pretty much what I expected from NU and the Aggies.
I think the Pelinis have just about used up all their wiggle room with Osborne and Perlman in terms of sideline behavior, and I’d chalk a fair percentage of the penalty disparities to their antics as well. Simply put, if Bo and Carl want to get NU to the next level, they need to discipline themselves and expect the same of the entire team. Including the offensive staff, incidentally – I’m far more frustrated with the confusion in play-calling, package substitutions and general offensive cluelessness than Bo’s temper. The former should be a fairly easy fix – the latter has been a problem all year, and is getting worse, not better. If Wats and Gilmore and Cotton don’t get on the same page quickly, we could be looking at not winning another game this season.
"...when the devil says to you: do not drink, answer him: I will drink, and right freely, just because you tell me not to."

I think you and Beergut both have good points
It’s just more a personal aversion to me.
Agreed on the offensive staff part – just when thought we had gotten past this kind of offensive coaching incompetence, we’re right back in it. I would love to see Bo get a real hot, up-and-coming offensive mind to run the O next year – it’s a pipe dream, but I think if he wanted to, he could bring someone like that in.
