Some of you might know I'm a Nebraska alum who currently serves as the campus pastor at University Lutheran Center, Iowa State University. We run one of the concession stands on the west side of Jack Trice Stadium to support travel opportunities for our students over the spring, summer and winter break periods. (That's me above, channeling my inner Forcier during a game earlier this season.)
If you're needing a soda, nachos, popcorn or other simple fare at the game on Saturday, we can hook you up! We're also the only stand on the west side that serves soft-serve ice cream - if the weather's nice, you can get a "Clone Cone!" Sure, it's super-spendy, but so's everything at the football stadium - why not help a good cause with Nebraska ties while you're at it?You'll be supporting the chance for our students to go to Guatemala this spring break for an immersion experience with local folks. This is not a "convert-the-heathens" mission trip (we don't do that), but a chance to meet new friends, learn about a different culture and serve wherever we can help. We also provide student opportunities for leadership conferences and make connections with Lutheran campus ministries across the country with the funds we raise at our concession stand.
I won't be working this week - I'll be attending the game with family. BUT if you're at the game, and you're going to get something at the concession stand anyway, look for the "Victory Bell" stand on the west side concourse, south of the press box, just across from the frozen lemonade and walking tacos ministands. Tell them Pastor Scott sent you and you'll get a big smile - I promise!
