2010 Week 12 College Football Predictions
Got back to Minnesota a couple hours ago after leaving North Platte this morning, so here we are again, really late on our predictions.
I'll be around tomorrow ready to watch a full day of college football, and looking forward to it! If you're wondering what to watch, remember to check out the college football buffet!
Ohio State (-3) at Iowa
Matt: Iowa is coming off an embarrassing loss to Northwestern and should be fired up as they head back to Kinnick Stadium on Senior Day. Iowa has been very hot and cold this season and it's about the time a hot game comes along. I think Iowa will win this game and by a surprisingly large margin. Hawkeyes 30 Buckeyes 17
Jon: Ohio State really hasn't played anyone this season, while Iowa will be looking to bounce back after the NU loss. Add that fact that it's at Iowa, and I'm sold. Hawkeyes 24 Buckeyes 21
Mike: How can I argue with that logic, except to point out that the Squawkeyes have lost the last three games they've played after losing a game to Northwestern. Buckeyes 27 Squawkeyes 20
Missouri (-11) at Iowa State
Matt: The Clones seemed to die last week following the heart breaker to Nebraska. Whether this was the hangover effect or the loss of Arnaud for the season is the question. The team will be excited for the Tigers to come to town, but it won't matter. Mizzou 40 Iowa State 28
Jon: Missouri - too much offense for the Cyclones, with just enough defense. Missouri 34 Iowa State 21
Mike: The loss of Arnaud is really going to hurt the Clones. I really thought they'd become bowl eligible last week; I don't think they'll get there this season now. Tiggers 38, Clones 10
Kansas State (-2) at Colorado
Matt: Daniel Thomas will run wild in this one against a Colorado team that still has a shot at bowl eligibility. The Buffs may feel a little to good about themselves following their win last week, but the Wildcats will be there to put them in their place. K State 35 Buffs 27
Jon: It's at Boulder, and Buffie interim coach Brian Cabral might earn a head coaching job if he can pull out a win over Kansas State. I think he does it, and it'll leave Husker fans wondering about how hard Colorado is going to play in our last game against each other. Buffs 27 Cats 23
Mike: I agree that the Buffs want to win for Brian Cabral, but the stench of Hawkins doesn't clear that quickly. Wildcats 38, Buffies 27
Oklahoma (-7.5) at Baylor
Matt: Oklahoma needs to be focused on this one and not look ahead to Bedlam in a couple weeks. The Big 12 South is still in the balance and Oklahoma can't afford a loss. They'll win, but Art Briles team will make this one extremely close. Sooners 35 Baylor 34
Jon: For some reason, I don't see Baylor making a game of this one, even though Oklahoma has been somewhat of a train wreck this season. Sooners 35 Baylor 17
Mike: The last few years, the Sooners have been brutal on the road. Doesn't mean they'll lose...but I'd take the points. Sooners 31, Bears 28
Illinois (-7.5) at Northwestern (at Wrigley Field)
Matt: Take me out to the ballga.......BAM! That's the sound of a WR running into the outfield wall following a touchdown grab. Has anyone else seen the scary surroundings at Wrigley? Still should be an amazing atmosphere and I expect it to be an equally as exciting game.
The Fighting Dan Persa's 48 The Fighting Zooks 40
Jon: Don't know if you've noticed, but Northwestern is a pretty decent football team - their win over Iowa wasn't that shocking. They should be able to handle Illinois no matter where the game is. NU 34 Illini 29
Mike: First rule about a game at Wrigley...which way is the wind blowing? The forecast says that it'll be blowing in from right field...meaning that this one should be low scoring. NWU 24, Illini 21 (PS: Jon, Northwestern is playing, not Nebraska...)
Wisconsin (-5) at Michigan
Matt: John Clay should be back for this one + Michigans awful defense =
Badgers 40 Michigan 35
Jon: Bucky put up 83 points against Indiana, and Michigan's defense isn't all that much better. The Wolverine offense should at least keep Wisconsin's offense off the field a little bit better than Indiana, though, so Brett Bielama won't be accused of RUTS this week.
Wisconsin 38 Michigan 33
Mike: Didn't Michigan's defense give up 65 points two weeks ago? I don't think Denard Robinson can keep up with Wisky. Badgers 66, Weasels 38
Nebraska (-2.5) at Texas A&M
Matt: This game strikes me as a combo of Kansas State and Washington balled into one. A&M has finally begun playing some tremendous offense as of late but with the exception of Oklahoma haven't really faced any great defenses. Nebraska will be focused and come out of Kyle Field with a hard fought victory. Huskers 30 Aggies 20
Jon: The Blackshirts will have a big game against the Aggies - and as long as the offense takes care of the ball, Texas A&M shouldn't score all that much. The defensive line is playing much better, and should shut down the Ags running game, forcing Tannehill to mimic Jerrod Johnson and throw a bunch of picks. Nebraska 34 Texas A&M 24
Mike: Nebraska plays better on the road, and for some reason, I do believe that Taylor Martinez is closer to being the Martinez who makes defenses look silly. Huskers 38, Aggies 20

They look good...
but I think I’d give Wisconsin more than 5 points, in fact, I see them leaving Michigan Stadium by at least 3 touchdowns. I think the hardest bet to make today is the Nebraska/A&M game.
On an unrelated note, does anyone else think Lee Corso isn’t looking so well these days? He’s really slurring his speech, forgetting his train of thought, and just seems really slow… Almost as if he’s had a stroke or something recently.
Corso
yeah, he seems to be slowing down…. which is a damned shame. Always like his ability to make fun of himself, not take everything too seriously – because God knows there’s too many of those guys around.

I always thought he was the perfect balance...
between Herbies in-depth analysis and having a bit more fun on the show. Either way, it’s too bad, old things die hard with me (Holtz being an exception) and I’m seriously doubting him being with Gameday next year.
This almost reminds me of Keith Jackson’s departure.

No love
for Baylor?
I think the Bears win a squeaker 24-21.
