you know

let me say this early.

I realize it’s in Nebraska’s best interest for Missouri to lose to Oklahoma tonight, but I think I’ll be rooting for them anyway.

Regardless of what happens against Oklahoma State, I hope Mizzou wins. I’d rather we played them for the last time when they’re at their best. Maybe that’s foolish, but what the hell.

Man but it's MIZZOU!!!

I just cringe when I think about them. Plus if the fairy-tale Big 12 ending comes through we want to face Oklahoma in the Big 12 championship and we need them to be at their strongest if that happens…that’s our only shot at possibly (though unlikely) playing for an NC…if we win out and then play and beat a #1 ranked Oklahoma team.

by Billgrip on Oct 23, 2010 10:54 AM CDT up reply actions

if Mizzou

can win today and we win today – next week’s game will be huge.

True true

How high do you think Mizzou would be ranked if they win today?

top ten

I’d guess. I mean, they would remain undefeated. you couldn’t rank them lower.

I guess my opinion depends on what happens in our game

If we win, then sure, why not- Go Mizzou. But if we lose…oh man we better hope Mizzou loses too!

by Billgrip on Oct 23, 2010 11:00 AM CDT up reply actions

I agree with Billgrip

I would rather see us play and beat an undefeated Oklahoma in the Big XII title game than play an undefeated Mizzou. Unless, a Mizzou win here helps send OU into a tailspin and Texas somehow crawls into the Big XII title game, giving us one last chance for revenge and a goodbye present…

by KC Gunner on Oct 23, 2010 11:10 AM CDT up reply actions

Or one last chance to be hearbroken

I swear Texas has put some kind of Satan-magic hex over our football team.

by Billgrip on Oct 23, 2010 11:18 AM CDT up reply actions

True as well

two losses to Texas in the final Big XII year would be pretty awful…

by KC Gunner on Oct 23, 2010 11:19 AM CDT up reply actions

It's a gamble...

I wouldn’t mind playing them because yeah, the chance of winning seems awesome…but yeah, the prospect of losing would be awful

by Billgrip on Oct 23, 2010 11:23 AM CDT up reply actions

interesting fact

or maybe scary is a better word.

Nebraska has lost 17 straight games on the road vs. top 20 teams.

Weak.

We need to change that today, in a big way.

Was thinking of rooting for ISU to take Texas fans down a peg, but I’m increasingly doubtful that anything will ever take Texas fans down a peg. I’d like for Texas to look good the rest of the way, but I really like Iowa State’s program and what Rhoades is doing there.

just committed the worst PI I’ve ever seen, even for them.

they have PSU in a third and goal, the ball’s in the air, and a guy just tackled the receiver. Wasn’t even close. Second time they gave PSU a first down on a PI in this drive.

by HuskerINtheArmy on Oct 23, 2010 12:21 PM CDT up reply actions

Listening to the Texas radio feed

Three minutes ago, they were praising Texas for their “skill” in playing really physical football against Nebraska but not getting called for penalties.

Then the last two plays, they’re absolutely livid at Iowa State’s playing really physical pass defense against them and not getting called for penalties.

So when we get away with it, it’s a skill, and when they get away with it, it’s those damned refs.

by Cheeseandcorn on Oct 23, 2010 12:06 PM CDT reply actions

I feel like if we had played Texas and they only had one week to prepare

We would have won. That bye week after the Red River Rivalry game is what gave them the advantage.

The other part of me thinks, “Holy cow, that Texas game was an even bigger fluke than I thought. There’s no way they’ll play anywhere near that poorly again this season.”

The first part is winning so far.

I'm surprised at FSNs coverage

Not a lot of crappy angles, no whole game wide-view.. Looks like a legitimate ball game

by sd.husker on Oct 23, 2010 1:47 PM CDT up reply actions

Simple

We didn’t catch the ball or run the ball up the middle.

Instead, we dropped TDs and kept running the zone read to the strength of their defense which, unfortunately for us, usually consisted of TM making the exact opposite of a good read (hint: bad).

by George W. Beadle on Oct 23, 2010 1:53 PM CDT via mobile up reply actions

Very true

Though as we discussed upthread, Martinez wasn’t even allowed to make reads for most of the time he was in the game.

This game has to be even more frustrating for Texas

Than our loss to them last year.

ISU has beaten Nebraska and Texas in back to back years. Now if they could just beat some other teams too…

by Billgrip on Oct 23, 2010 1:50 PM CDT reply actions

Texas fans last week:

Pinning your whole season on beating one opponent is classless and utterly beneath us.

Who cares about this loss? At least we beat Nebraska!

Am I missing something?

Is it just me or does it seem like we did very little running right up the middle last week? Because that is how ISU is beating Texas.

by Billgrip on Oct 23, 2010 2:03 PM CDT reply actions

You going to blame Watson

for the dropped passes as well? NU’s offense worked fine. Not much you can do when they load the box and dare you to throw, the WR get open then drop the ball.

Was that an Iowa State player injured or a Texas player injured? Because there was some very strong booing by the crowd when he went down.
