Growing up in the 1980's I remember listening to the Nebraska Cornhuskers on the radio in the garage helping my dad. The game always seemed to be played the same way. It would start out with Nebraska's opponent racking up some points and my dad talking about how stressful the first half of Nebraska Football is...but he would tell his young son, wait until the 4th Quarter...Nebraska is going to pound them into the ground. As if on queue, the 4th QTR would begin the pounding. The offense line would push and crush the enemy's defensive line and watch the Roger Craig and Rathman push through semi-tractor trailer size holes. Nebraska in the I-Formation and the entire middle of the defense would open up, being shoved back into its own secondary!
Nebraska football was fun to watch, fun to listen to and to this kid, the lesson that was spelled out every Saturday still holds true today. "If you are good at something, keep driving, keep pushing, and keep striving every minute...for when the last quarter of life comes to bear that is when the true grit of a man comes out." Thanks to growing up on Nebraska Football in the 80's that keep pushing forward mentality can created success for me.
I look forward to watching and listening to Nebraska Football this year...as cool as it was to watch Martinez weave his way to the history books...it was awesome to see the Offensive Line surge and power its way to success. Nebraska Power is Back!
